I don't know if it's "great" or not, but you save $50 on just the motherboard and processor...

You can get a ECS AM2+/AM3 motherboard for $30 after rebate. Not a great board, only supports DDR2.

I might pair that up with a AMD II X4 for around $130.

I did that... didnt work out. ECS gave me 2 doa boards and I ended up losing my combo deal and buying a nice gigabyte board.

Real nice deal if you plan on running stock. Not so great for overclocking as that 965 is the older C2 revision. Suspect they're discounting this so much because they want to get rid of the old steppings.

That said, you're getting a quality AM3 Asus mobo for $70.
