Newegg RMA

Sorry, I know this probably isn't the right place for this, but I didn't know where to put this. I am having to RMA my motherboard to Newegg. The only problem is that I no longer have the backplate that came with the motherboard. I plan on talking to them about this tomorrow, but just wanted to check on here to see if anyone had any experience with their RMA service, and if this would cause a problem. Thanks a lot.

You should double check with newegg if they will accept it because you would usually have to have the motherboard intact with original onboard accessories (not peripherals aka cables/fan/etc). That backplate is like the heatsink that comes with the motherboard (hope that makes sense...I know you probably wouldn't RMA a motherboard without its northbridge/southbridge heatsink
). If you can...you should have the backplate with it...even if it's not attached on the back anymore. I'm not sure if I'm right but good luck on that.

I'm hoping maybe since it's broken anyways they won't care. I just got rid of it yesterday stupidly, I don't know why I did. I guess I will just have to cross my fingers and beg. Any tips on getting one if they make me have it?

Newegg has great service as well as being very friendly. So shoot them an email about how it broke off and that if it's still okay to RMA. Next step if that doesn't work is to ask Asus themselves (assuming your Asus MB is what needs the RMA as well as the broken back plate). Is the broken back plate the reason for RMA? I'm sure either of them might send you another plate or give you the RMA since the board itself is still in working condition...I think

It's not a broken backplate. It has a broken dimm slot, but I have an aftermarket cooler, which of course has a custom backplate. I got rid of the regular one after putting the aftermarket one on. Stupid, I know. I'm going to chat with them tomorrow, just wanted to check on here since chat was closed.

Just talked to Newegg, they said they would make an exception for me! I f***ing love that company so much. This reminds me why they are the only site I buy from. Thanks for the help everyone.
