You should double check with newegg if they will accept it because you would usually have to have the motherboard intact with original onboard accessories (not peripherals aka cables/fan/etc). That backplate is like the heatsink that comes with the motherboard (hope that makes sense...I know you probably wouldn't RMA a motherboard without its northbridge/southbridge heatsink
). If you can...you should have the backplate with it...even if it's not attached on the back anymore. I'm not sure if I'm right but good luck on that.
