Next Victim: 2600HD Vmod

My next victim is a ATI 2600HD which has had a long and prosperous life and is desperately in need of some mods. What better place to start its new life than in the OCN. Here are the pix of my card. Ready for some insight from the OCN community

You can flash it over to an Xt

Same RV630 core.

You'll need to bump the voltage though, and setup the RAM section as that cards probably GDDR2

You mentioned the DDR2, which is what I have, so how do I manipulate the BIOS to rectify this?

Thanks for the link by the way

You'll need to edit the BIOS, with a program like Radeon BIOS editor.
That's about as far as I can take you on it all though, I was successful in getting a flashed card to boot, but the drivers did not recognize it and I dropped the project.

I did it to my HIS HD2600Pro in my Sig rig.

Ill probably just stick with the hard mod then as I am no programmer and my ability to manipulate hex is limited

Also I believe this is the data sheet for the Vgpu:
I can see the pics, I'll upload them for you.

Thanks Tot, were you able to see the pics below those where they show the Vmod?

Also do you know of a good BIOS flash sw for ATI I have RBE but I need something to flash it with preferably for floppy. I only have tools for NVIDIA cards so I have the hang of it just need the flashing software.

No problem man, I tried.

Good luck with your poor baby.

I had to BIOS mod mine, as it's a HIS Custom design (the Iceq Turbo version) which was ok, because it worked out pretty well, I have HD2600Xt core clock on it right now. The GDDR2 is running about as fast as it can though.

Its starting to look good! I cant wait to do the Vmod on this thing
. I know I have to stress it longer Im just playing with it now, will post results once I hit my threshold. If my wife only knew what I was doing to the computer I built her for her birthday:swearing:

Not bad man, you might hit a wall soon though.

My HD2600Pro (with stock BIOS) only got this far stable, the biggest issue was the RAM

thanks. yeah I noticed that I couldnt go past 749 either with stock voltage on the core either without it artifacting. I quit playing with it after I hit 495 on the RAM and have been testing its stability to verify if I can go farther with it.How high could you get on your RAM? My temps are good and its been stable so far. later on Im going to find its threshold so I can have a good jumping off point for when I Vmod it. I have been studying the data sheets on the IC's to figure out how to up the voltage on the GPU and RAM so I can push this card hard

621mhz is the highest I can go 24/7 with my RAM.

My top out was 750mhz Core/621mhz RAM.

A fairly hefty overclock over a stock HD2600pro though. (600mhz/450mhz)
Yeah thats respectable. Once I get this Vmod worked out I will give you a heads up if you are good with a soldering gun. Its a risky endeavor though cause I just bricked my X1300 yesterday
. I got one successful mod though with an 8800GT which Im waiting on my new heatsink to regulate my temps. I just cant keep up with the watercoolers though on air. Those guys are pushin some insane clocks on the G92. Though Ive seen CL3P20 pull off some nice clocks on stock cooling so I know its feasible. But for now Im playing with this card. Im to scared to hardmod my 260
