I just picked it up and I'm rather dissappointed. Am I missing something here? NFS: Most Wanted played fine with pretty well everything on high at 1680x1050. I can barely play NFSC on 1280x1024 with stuff on medium and no AA. My only clue was that the AI from 8 cars instead of 4 create a much greater load on the CPU, and that's what's bogging me down. Although, even when I'm driving around in free mode it's choppy. Most Wanted ran just fine, so I assumed Carbon would as well. Anyone else having similar problems?

well i think the graphics are much much more detailed. Look at the cars closely you can see the tire tread and rims alot better etc.

It's far more detailed than MW, but it shouldn't run too bad on your system.

I'll have to play around with the settings that aren't too noticeable but create a big draw on the system. I hope my Camaro choice will treat me well for the career mode.

Personally I run it at 800 x 600 with medium detail (I really need a new pc) and when I set it to 1024 x 768 with medium detail, I just get like 15fps and not really playable. I played Most Wanted on 1280 x 1024 with medium detail.

What drivers are you all using to run NFS Carbon? I'm using 84.xx.

84.xx are the fastest drivers I know of. 84.56 to be excact But the other 84.xx's are plenty fast anyway.

*EDIT*

Would NFS Carbon run better on the 9x.xx series drivers? Might give it a shot.

Just for comparison I run it on my sig comp and I can run 6x AA 16x AF max settings in game with 30 average even with loads of AI cars (though I'm usually in front )

Your sig displays no gpu so its not a 'good comparison'.

I used to play nfs mw on 1600x1200 maxed out.
With nfsc maxed out and 1600x1200 it stutters. lower the res and it works flawlesly.

On another note i have compared resolutions using fear and i have found using 1024x 768 over 1600x1200 saves me 25 fps.

yep exactly right^^

i have pretty much the same setup as fury graphics wise and i play at 1280x1024 on max everything and its fine

its not ram for sure, as with 1GB i can play and run firefox and WMP and all sorts of other stuff in the background. therefore you need some more graphics power, or just run a lower res

I have no problem with fps playing maxed out, it's that the game will go in to turbo mode and it's like the game was set to 2X speed but I still get 100-120 fps. All I have to do to correct it is to go in to stand by the boot up and it works fine.

What I hate is the relfections they put into the game. Jack up the settings and you can see your car in the goddamn road.
