what kind of ppd does a 9800gt get vs a 9600gt?

My wifes 9600GT gets around. 3K PPD. My 8800GT gets around 4.5K PPD, that 9800 GT should do even better as it is faster than my 8800GT (same card really just a little faster).

so should I get a 9600gt for $60 or a 9800gt for $100, either will be used primarily for folding. What do you guys think (I am obviously somewhat on a budget).

That's a tough call sloth. It really depends on what you want to spend. IMO the 9800GT is a better value. But it is really your call.

Ah poop. I really don't want to spend another $40 for 1000ppd, but it IS a better card. These manufacturers suck though.

Zotac is good, sparkle, I don't know too much about... they used to be big on the ATi cards...

I don't know if you would want to buy the open box card though.
I just bought a xfx 9800gt open box and the card is missing a freakin capacitor.
Looks like it was direct form xfx factory, had a sticker on it that said that it failed the visual test missing c214 capacitor.

Appears they only have 1 in stock as well.

on my 9800GT with about a 17% overclock (on all 3 clocks) I get about 3600 ppd on 511 WUs and about 5800 ppd on 353 WUs

so for 100 bucks thats a sweet deal, I paid almost 140 for mine, from evga
