Upgraded an older build:

PII X4 940 / AC Freezer 64
Gigabyte MA790GP-UD4H
2x2 GSkill 1066
WDD 500 Sata blue
Vista 64

Old:
XBlade case
OCZ 600 Stealthstream
9600 GT EVGA

No bios flash needed.
Had to manually config memory in bios.
After OS and program installs,
entered multi from 15 to 18 and bumped the voltage up to 1.448 and booted right up.
Nice and quick, Gamed CSS for 30 mins and temps were only 44C.

Impressed at 3.6g.
Anyone use AMD Overdrive yet, and how easy of a learning curve is involved?

I honestly just use overdrive utility as a status monitor. Ocing through BIOS seems more stable for me, but I am done with my X4 940. My mom needed an upgrade desperately she offered me a new platform for my old PC. Your build looks solid and you should be very happy with the OCability of that CPU.

Your sig rig?

I hate to admit it but I might (emphasize *might*) be tempted to give up my Phenom II rig if offered an i7 platform.

Also, to OP, hope you enjoy your build. The Phenom II is well ahead of anything you can currently throw at it gaming wise.
