Total $3,379.43

Notes: Do realize there are many changes ahead in the next couple of months:
1) DX10. In November nvidia will release the 88 series cars.
2) Quad core. Kentsfield will come out soon. Worth the wait I guess
3) PSU: you need more than you have now if you go for dual DX10 cards. No curernt PSU is enough, except perhaps this PC Power & Cooling unit: http://www.pcpower.com/products/view...hp?show=T1KWSR $549.00

Obviously, I picked the most expensive parts. An E6700 with DDR2 800 RAM will likely perform nearly the same.

Trusted tech I know, but I reckon 8800GTX SLI (2 x $649) would go well...just wait half a month.

I did make that suggestion
He'll just need a new PSU for that... or a secondary one.

you dont think the 850 will handel it. it dont even get warm now. nor have i tripped a 15amp breaker with the computer is specs, this computer and two window ac units going, and the printer and tv and sound system.
this makes to believe that i am not really working this psu even %50

Dx10 cards will draw about 250W a piece, all on the 12V rails. Thus, you'll need about 42A on the 12V rails dedicated to the video cards. Even the old version of the turbo cool 1KW does not deliver that (36A on that rail). That's likely why they changed teh design to a single rail PSU.

You aren't running a whole lot now compared to DX10 cards, even if you have the highest end cards you have now.

and not just any... Most current ones have a distribution of the load across the rails that won't be sufficient.

LOL you just said what you should build:

CPU: Intel Kentsfield Quad Core $1,000 or so
MoBo: Anything good what's out on 01/2007 $300
RAM: The RAM I picked before: $500
Video: Duo 8800's: $1300 or so
CPU: Your local Power Station (or that FSP I linked): $550

That sounds like a nice build to me!
Or you could just build my sig rig in a month... save some coin. (not that that seems your thing with an extream in you specs...)

so a kentfield EE (or what evey they will call it)
mistery board
the half K ram
and a lightning rod. ok i think i got it.

and i do heat my house with my computers. one in each room. i call the big one glowy (a blue glow but it warm).
have to turn computer in living room off so the furnace will turn on and heat the rest of the house.
