Hey guys, so I finally decided to make a thread about this after being without my main computer for about 4 days now. I've went through at least 10 pages of Google searches but none has helped so this is kind of my last option. I don't know if this is the right place to be posting it but I assume it is an OS fault/software issue.

So basically what's happening to my computer is when I turn on my computer, everything boots normally. I get to the page where I select my OS, I select Windows 7 (64-bit) and the typical loading screen appears but after it's finished a black screen appears with a mouse cursor. The cursor is functional and that's about it. Ctrl+Alt+Delete does not do anything and neither does jamming the shift key for sticky keys. I've left my computer on for a couple hours as well and it doesn't change anything.

In addition, I've tried booting other OS's which I have on my hard drive along with the other hard drives I have I get the same thing but with my other hard drive with Windows 7 RC edition but instead of the black screen I get a blue error screen flash for a split screen as the computer restarts and too fast to be read.

Some things I've tried are: repairing the computer using advanced options (Windows says it's been repaired, I tried repairing again and it doesn't let me as it's "already repaired"), running in safe mode (same results), checking memory errors (many times, no difference) and 2 full system scans using Norton 2010 Antivirus Recovery Tool (fixed 3 threats, second time did not catch any threats.).

Some additional info. to problem,
- My friend was playing League of Legends on my computer, the day before the problem.
- My hard drive was and still is making squeaks.
- I scheduled dskchk on my C:/ which I've cancelled and interrupted.

- My hard drives seem to be still functional as the directories and files seem to be intact from the Norton scan.
- The Norton scan apparently found 3 threats (trojans) which are "fixed".
- I do not have restore points.

Any help is much appreciated, I've spent quite some time trying to fix my computer I just hope this thread does not go by unread because my computer is probably going to stay this way.

I just want my computer to function normally again because I want to download music and sync my music and I also have all my photos saved on my computer.

Once again, thank you very much for any help.

I don't think it's a memory issue and card seems to be running fine I guess, correct if I'm wrong.
I've ran memory diagnostics a couple of times, there are no problems and I think if it were to be a GPU problem I would be able to see anything. Plus I don't really have another card to test it with.

So have you tried reinstalling windows on another hard drive? It might be something is wrong with the drive causing some kind of corruption, so you might just have to reinstall and see what you can get off the old one.
Nope, but I'm planning on it. Though I find it strange how the other drive can't reach the log-in screen either.

I've tried that with the hard drives and the memory. When I take out my memory it doesn't display anything at all and the drives do the same thing with the black/blue screen.

You could do this to backup everything and then do a clean install.
I would try the first one but I can't even access Task Manager however I will try changing my drive type. As clean install, that might be an option for me problem is I don't have a spare computer in the house for me to use to even backup with so it's gonna be a bit tedious.

This always happens to me when the OS drive letter gets switched.

You can edit the registry with a recovery disk and change it back to C:.

Edit:

Wait.

This happened to me after I tried to restore a drive image. I never was able to fix it.
