So its going to be green (nVidia) vs. slightly darker green ("the new AMD")?

So errm this means what again? You can still get a AMD computer with a Nvidia videocard right? And I can still put ATI into an Intel machine.

They are banding together in hopes that their two halves make a whole.

it means that ATI is getting help on making extremely fast CPU/GPU units and will soon dominite the market when they throwing out GPUs that speed is compairable to cpus.. ie..1.5-2 Ghz

What? Why would you want to do that? ATI + AMD is all you could ever want.
Lol j/k yeah you can still do that, but soon you might not be able to put crossfire in Intel, or SLi in an AMD machine. I'm pretty sure you will be able to put a PCIe GPU in a PCIe slot, no matter the brand.

How is ATI not doing well? Last I checked they are the performance leader in GPUs at the moment

I don't see a dual-core GPU on anyone's roadmap. I do see 3x and 4x crossfire platforms coming up. Even if there are going to be dual-core gpus, still nothing will be obsolete. A single x1950xtx can play all current games with ease. Crossfire and SLi are not going to be obsolete, because you can still use them with the same results as the supposed dual core gpu.

NVDA is leading by something over $10 a share.
That's the leader you want to be MARKET LEADER

Yuck. I absolutely hate the new site. I want the red colors not the green stuff. It looks ugly now

You know, SLi and Crossfire look to be alive for a while seeing as companies can get you to buy a motherboard(chipset) and two graphics adapters (GPUs) at the same time, why would a sensible company cut profit making products?

Also, dual-core or even the thought of multi-core GPUs is faulty logic at the most basic level. GPUs are already highly parallel, each "pipe" is equivalent to a CPU core without the registers and instruction cache. pfft, multi-core GPUs.... THAT would be an obsolete tech.
