Noctua NH-U12P SE2 exhaust direction (Socket AM3)?

Would this cooler face the case rear exhaust or would it just point vertically towards the video card or something. Also would this be the best air cooler on the market?
Thanks!

I don't know the answer to your first question, but I can answer your second.

It's not the best cooler out there in the market, but they are "High-Quality" CPU Coolers and do compete with other "similar" coolers out there.
Mount is so the exhaust fan is blowing either out the back of the case or out the top if you have any fans up there. You want the airflow to move in a direction throughout the case, not bottleneck.
Best air cooler on the market is the newly released Noctua NH-D14, by quite a bit actually. Hard to find them in stock though, I lucked out.

You can face it anyway you want, it really doesn't matter. I'm having my blow upward towards the fan on the top of my case because it's the only way my RAM will fit.

I'd have it blow out the back of the case if your ram doesn't have clearance issues.
What are a few good alternatives to the cooler I mentioned?

Noctua NH-D14 is hands down the best air cooler on the market right now. Runs about $85. That might seem like a lot but the reviews claim you get no benefits from switching the fans out, so your total is $85. Other heatsinks will run you $75-80 but you'll have to buy 2 fans with them.. so your total will be over $100.

Someone just posted in the Noctua NH-D14 thread that it beats the Noctus NH-u12P by 13 degrees at 4GHz on a Phenom 2 X4 BE.

This cooler also is one of the largest heatsinks out there, so you need to make sure your Case, Mobo, and RAM won't have clearance issues.

I guess the real question is when it will be available on Newegg.

Why newegg? I don't think they will carry it for awhile.

I bought mine here and got it 2 days later:

They will randomly get 1-2 in stock.

It's usually the company I buy most of my computer parts for. I'll keep an eye out on the link you provided for whenever they become restocked. Thanks for all your help!

Newegg doesn't carry many high end heatsinks.
