hey ppl

I wanted to find out if getting a sound card will eliminate the noise I am getting when in BC2. I guess it is generated by the videocard.

my setup:
on board > TX8511 amp > HD555

I can make the noise lower if I lower the volume on the amp, but then i need to turn the volume up again on the amp to watch a movie (some movies are quite), I would like to control it on the PC.

If anyone did experience and solved it by using a sound card?
will the ASUS Xonar DX 7.1 help at all or will I still get that buzz in the game?

Make sure you are using the latest audio drivers for your onboard audio and the latest GPU drivers. A lot of times, getting an expensive sound card is a waste of money. try different audio equipment and see if your issues improve. Also, some content is more quite because of difference in the file format quality and it's sample rate. Higher the rate, better the quality, the less you have to turn up your volume.

I doubt that drivers will solve the issue, I am guessing that it's the noise created by the videocard when it's under load. I am sure that others have seen this issue too. So does the dedicated sound card clean up the noise?

Hang on! You have a squeling capacitor on the video card! It's perfectly harmless and will reduce in noise over time! Very common.

No a sound card will not fix the issue.

I know that noise, but this one is in the headphones actually, it's not the one coming directly from the videocard. not sure if that was clear or not?

Do you hear the noise if you take the amp off? Take off the powerful effect if that's on. Typically gives an annoying feedback noise and the amp will only amp that noise further. Effects should be on none in the equalizer and environment. You should have system settings on Max. Video player maxed etc. I know vlc player lets you quadruple sound volume. If that's not enough for your low impedance headphones with and amp then there are other issues at hand. Obvious statement but make sure you're listening in speaker mode rather than 5.1 or some other madness.

if don't use the amp by plugging headphones directly, then there is no noise, I think that the amp is amplifying the noise when videocard is under load. I really want use the amp cause it is better for the headphones. the noise is there even if i mute the sound on PC. so if i get a sound card do you think it will go away? or do I need a new amp?
