Noob ?: Athlon 64 X2 4600+ vs Phenom II X3 720

Thinking of upgrading my 939 Athlon 64 X2 4600+ Manchester/ Motherboard to a Phenom II X3 720.

I dont know much about Processor powers, etc and Im hoping someone can tell me what the main differences between these two are and how much performance increase I would expect.
Looking at the MHz speeds they aren't that different, is the FSB, cache, etc going to make the difference?

Thanks for any help I can get.

Without going into detail: It will make a big difference. I went from an X2 5000 to an X4 940, and it was astounding.

The 720 is a tricore, it uses a better instruction set than older AMD chips, it overclocks very nicely, it has a good amount of cache, and it's cheap.
Just the architecture alone of Phenom II over Athlon x2 would make it worth it.

Not to mention some motherboards are capable of unlocking a possible 4th core to make it a quad core, but thats never a promise. That along with the overclockability and the larger caches i say its a home run.
