I am looking at that card right now as I've just gotten my refund to my account. (15% restocking fee cant be normal can it?) I was wondering if it would be a good time to buy or if nvidia will drop prices to compete with the new ati card coming out in the next couple months.

So buy now or wait a bit for price drops?

Yes. Prices just dropped actually.

And don't expect ATI's prices to drop any time soon. MSRP is supposed to be $150/$180 for the 4870, but the vendors are being douchebags about it.

I say go green, the ATI vendors don't deserve your money.

i would say at that price w/ the MIR... you can't hardly beat it... even if that new ati card comes out a GTX 260 216 for $180 hell yeah!!!

if ur gonna buy a GTX260 core 216, there is an evga card in the 55nm version $179 after MIR

check out that one, unless u really want the coupon for Mirror's Edge. better temps, allowing more OC if u want.

as for price drops, i cant see anything that shows it going below the current $200 mark

I'm not going to go XFX mostly because I had a lot of issues with their support and the first card I got from them failed after around 10 months. Then after RMA'ing they just refurbished it and it started acting screwy less than a week after getting it back.

evga has great support and that card i linked has a lifetime warranty! i didnt even catch that the first time!

i dont think u can do any better than a GTX260 core 216 55nm w/ lifetime warranty from evga!
