Which of these two cards is better, by how far?

Is there anything AGP that will perform better in this price range?

thats the PCI-E 7800gs which is OEM only. There really aren't specs for the 7800gs agp (which I what I guess you're talking about?)

After looking around I really like the HIS Excalibur ATI Radeon X850XT PE IceQ II VIVO 256MB AGP. Would I be better going with that, or the HIS Excalibur ATI Radeon X850XT IceQ II VIVO 256MB AGP? With price not being an issue. I have ready that the X850XT might be able to be overcloked to be faster than the X850XT PE since it doesnt have any overclocking potential. Any suggestions?

HIS is a quality brand but the iceq series are used to be way overpriced, how much are they gonna cost you? i'd go for a PCIe setup tho, but well i don't know your current setup. Sapphire or Connect3D cards costs less than HIS if you can find them.

I personally would go with a nvidia card over an ATI as at the moment Nvidia always seem to come out on top, I haven't seen any of the specs for agp but if that link is similar to the the agp version go for that cos I had a 6800GT which marked higher than the 850 with a few tweaks and that is between the 6800gs and 7800gt. its not a bad place to be hanging around as far as graphics go mate.

you're sorely mistaken.

ATi currently has the fastest gfx card, they did with the x1800xt too until the 512 came out. However the 1900 is now out. It's a better bet to spend $250 on a agp x850xt, or just spend 280 for a 7800gt and $70 for a pci-e mobo. Same price as the 7800gs, better performance, and better platform.

I am either looking to buy a top of the line AGP card, or upgrade my Mobo to a Asus P5N32 SLI Deluxe nforce4 socket 775 Motherboard . I heard this is the top intel motherboard out there right now? Will it fit my P4 3.4GHZ processor and my existing corsair pro memory?

Then I can go with an even higher end card. Money really is not too big of an issue if price is not that much different.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!!!

Well Im still not sure if the 7800gs is even being made yet even with that article above. As Nvidia has said no and anandtech brought that way back. If you look at that article it says that its available on compusa and I searched and couldn't find it. I know that it was being worked on but I think they ditched it. Wait until thursday though because its the rumor that it is coming out and that was an error on the site.

stock vs stock, the x1800xt is faster than the gtx256. Overclocked vs Overclocked? Im also willing to say the x1800xt will still come out the victor. And why you talking about gtx and 1800 lol?

In a couple shader intense games like FEAR and Splinter Cell the X1800XT beats the GTX512 but its behind in most games...although not by that much.

If you play AGE3, HL2, FEAR, CoD2, Farcry or anything that uses shader 3.0 go for nVidia, as the X8xx series from ati doesn't support it and at least in AGE3 there are major image quality drawbacks. For AGP 7800gs/6800gs.

straying abit lol maybe a poll would have been better on this thread but from whats down I think its about preference rather than card some people will stand by nvidia at the cost of a few mhz here and there and the same for those who stand by ATI, at the end of the day it aint just about product but support for the product, new drivers, software etc I personally would say nvidia mate, my last 3 have been nvidia and I have been impressed everytime, all have been OC'd and I have never had a problem but I am sure the next guy will say the same for ATI so check back in about 6 pages time to find the conclusion
