Hi i own 2 monitors 23", 24" I am thinking of buy a 4870

short question: would the 4870 run one monitor and the 9800gx2 on the other?

long question: when i buy the 4870 would i be able to have the 4870 working on my 23" and my 9800gx2 working on my 24"? would i be able to use nvidia driver AND ati drivers? or is there a diff way?

would a 750W thermal take be enough to power those two beasts?

thanks for the replies and answers

Yes,Yes only if you stay with XP or 7,Yes. I would also look into using the 9800GX2 for Physx if you want.

how do you mean? (+repu btw)
use my 4870 as the main gpu fro both monitors and the 9800gx2 for physx only? would i notice much benefit from games?
if that the only way i could have them in the same comp and working? (monitor each or one as physx)

i am using Windows xp home
vista will not allow 2 gpu drivers from different co.'s, but physx is not that great, just use the 9800 as ur main card

Xp will allow it but i think a gx2 for physx is overkill lol

You should format pc and install ati drivers and then nvidia drivers with physx. Then you set physx on in nvidia control panel

I dont know if im right LOL

thanks for the link, so would i only be able to run my 9800gx2 on phyx and not run with a monitor?
You can use it for physx and for your monitor

Im doing the same at the moment but just with 1 card

Im curious lol i cant quite understand why your doing this?
you can run 2 monitors through your 9800gx2 and the 9800gx2 is slightly better than the 4870 isnt it?

Just use your 9800 GX2 for both monitors.
Dont buy a 4870.
If you want something better then the 295.

you are correct but with duel monitors i am having to split the gpu in half

as the 9800gx2 is made of two cards in one case

so when i am playing games i do not as the fps i wish so if i can the whole gpu working on it i world get the fps i want this is where the 4870 comes in for the extra power

Yes because both work separately from each other
jsut to get it strait! (before i bring gordon freeman down here if your wrong)

would the phyx driver run the gpu and all the video stuff on my 24"

and the 4870 driver would run the 23"

would i be able to interact with both monitors like i am now with just the 9800gx2? (desktop is streched across and i can drag windows across)
