Ok so for now i have an older gigabyte mobo GA-7VRX v.2 that runs max at 266mhz fsb. I just ordered a Amd-m 2400+...

I want to overlock it for now just a little bit, but my motherboard multiplier only goes to 12.5. So i am wondering how i can make it go higher? I will eventually get a new mobo so i can o.c. this thing up to like 333 or 400 fsb. But for now i just want it up to like 2ghz with 266mhz fsb.

Any suggestions?

You could try and update the BIOS on that thing, but there is a very slim chance it will work.
sadface. mail me ur shuttle board!

The motherboard does have an update for bios so that it will recognize the xp 2400+ and 2600+. I think i just have to put the multiplier on auto to get it up to the 133x13.5 = 1800mhz.

So since it recognizes the 2600+ also, i wonder if there is a way to just make the m.b. think its a 2600+ and put it at that speed. Guess we'll find out on monday when i get it.

If that 2400 is a recient buy it's probably locked
because they haven't made em unlocked since about fall of last year. But you never know, a friend who wouldn't know what to do w/an unlocked barton receintly stumbled on an unlocked retail 2500... old stock, go figure!!!

Yes, the XP-M cpus are unlocked. I would say that you would be better off with a MSI K7n2 Delta-LSR mobo you can pick em up for 60$ on newegg.com
