Well you see im asking for a friend and i need some honest opinions, well you see he has a 3.4ghz northwood processor 800fsb 512kb cache and he is running it on a gigabyte ga-8ik1100 with a thermaltake volcanoe 7 + running at 6000rpm
now how much could he overclock that safely too without blowing things up..lol

Northwoods are 512k. He can probably push it to ~3.6-3.7 without any issues. Probably higher, but only trial and error will tell.

I can do 3.7 1:1 with my 3.2E. With a 3.4 I think it's possible to go 3.9 cause he has a 6000RPM hsf and those things really get the heat out

Try it, it depends on wether you were lucky with your chip or not.
