I have this old sony vaio laptop and it has really poor performance so if ocing the cpu doesnt help a bit i will trash it. It has an intel pentium single core and i cannot overclock it through the bios. can anyone point me towards some software that can help me OC this junk.

Even if OC'd I would just trash it. Lookup socket type, see if there are any dualcore CPU available for the socket in the laptop and buy it. Considering its a pentium single the cpus for the socket will be really really cheap. Can you check "Dxdiag" for exact CPU name please?

I can only guess Pentium M series but cant be sure.

try adjustFSB. I'm not sure how laptop overclocking works, but I've heard that it is what is usually used.

So you have a Pentium M 750...Best for socket is 780, but not worth todays prices.
