Hello all,

As many of you have experienced, since the last migration, many of the links within older posts do not re-direct correctly and usually means you end up on the OCN homepage rather than to the content you are looking for. In order to try and repair these prior issues I need a collection of broken link re-direct examples so that the VS devs can look into this further. We are hoping that we can fix these past issues by analyzing the broken re-direct behavior and this issue fixed with the new migration.

Please reply to this thread with all your broken link examples so we can take a look at them :)

All the best.
E

P.P.S. Searching users threads don't work in Profile as "Discussions Created" points to the same link as "Replies"

Are you guys going to be doing anything with all search engine queries now being invalid ??

Thats years upon years of data that has been spidered.

For example,

If I do a Google search

site: overclock.net twr too slow ryzen --cant format this correctly keeps adding an  between : and over ...

None of the results returned by Google are going to direct people to the correct webpage.

Surely you should already have .htaccess rules in place for all these queries ???

It will take time for the Site to be reindexed in Google. There are redirects in place. I can have the techs take another look.

It may be to do with the default posts per page being different.

The default is now double the amount as before.

Therefore any old links, I have to have to copy the link, go to the end of the URL where it has the page number, than half this page value, re-insert it.

Than I can reach the correct page.

Where were these located before?

If the sites are down and not owned by VS not much we can do for them.

It's on the https://www.overclock.net/forums/ page currently, under the headers for each section. I noted this after your company took over OCN but did not change the links or take them away from the site.

If the domains are not owned by V.S., there is no reason to link to them or still have them listed on the site. If the domains are owned by V.S. and the links don't work properly, the funds spent to acquire those urls is being wasted and the search rank for this site is going to tank because of random link urls or broken links when crawled.

I remember Enterprise said to wait for the site changeover to a new platform before mentioning this once again, which I guessed correctly was Xenforo due to the VB3 transition to Xenforo being smoother than to other platforms.

Ok, I am sure we can edit those out than if @ENTERPRISE agrees.

Yuppers, they are writing some scripts for the various corrections now to clean up others.

UPDATE on progress:
HTML for Images should be resolved shortly.
HTML cleanup in general will take some additional time as it is seeming to be more of a challenge for the migration team.
