What is the Foldathon?

Every month we hold a Foldathon, or FAT for short. The FAT is a mad dash over a 2 day period where we fold on as much hardware as we can get our grubby fingers on and try to amass the most points possible. It is winner takes all. Okay, that's not true, but if you're lucky you might win something, probably not, but you will have made a honorable contribution to the science behind [email protected] What is that science you're probably asking, have a gander over here to learn more. All units crunched for team 37726 count, even if you can only manage to complete one unit, but if you're already a folder, there's no excuse for not folding for the full 48 hours

How it works:

Sign-up and run [email protected] for Overclock.net (team number: 37726) during the specified times. Those who Fold will be entered into a drawing to win the prizes listed below. If you still don't know what [email protected] is or need some help getting started, feel free to post here, make a thread in the Overclock.net [email protected] Team forum, check the original guide here: FAHControl v7 for both CPU and GPU or follow a more recent guide here: OCN Folding Needs You!

If you don't submit any points during a Foldathon, you will be removed from the list, this is to push for active participation in the event.

You are required to re-sign up each month for the prize option, this is to hopefully push a little more active participation in the event as well and prevent prizes going to people who aren't active in the community.

When:

October 2020 Foldathon - Monday 19th - Wednesday 21st - 1200 ET/1600 UTC

----> Countdown to Start <----

Reminders:

If you would like to be notified via mass thread mention, please send a private message @Simmons572 or @CptAsian to be added to the notification group.

Prize Winners:

- x5 OCN Premium Accounts - 1 Year Subscription

- x3 $25 Paypal Prize

- x1 $50 Paypal Prize

If you wish to donate a prize, shoot @lanofsong ,@Simmons572 or @axipher a PM

Prizes will be drawn on or around the following Monday after the event.

After accepting a prize in any given monthly folding event, members will sit out two events before becoming eligible for prizes again. This is to hopefully spread the kindly donated items amongst the OCN folding community more fairly.

In.

It's finally starting to cool off here, so I'll try to get some extra slots up and running.

If you still don't know what [email protected] is or need some help getting started, feel free to post here, make a thread in the Overclock.net [email protected] Team forum or check this guide: FAHControl v7 for both CPU and GPU
Do you have a version of the "FAHControl v7 for both CPU and GPU" link that hasn't been destroyed by the forum migration? If it's simple as installing something and letting it run for a couple of days, I'll try to help out if/when I'm not using my machine for work... Assuming I can find simplistic instructions that are readable.

[email protected] really can be as easy as just downloading, installing, and hitting Fold, but if you want to get the most out of your computer, you can do a little extra setup that only needs to be done once. Getting started is pretty self-explanatory, but @Avacado actually recently wrote up a nice little intro to [email protected] here:

I'll actually swap out the link in the OP.

In! These new CUDA WUs are great. Currently at an estimated 5.4 million PPD on my 2080ti.

Ah.. I guess I'll give it a whirl. Hopefully it'll generate at least a moderate load on my machine for stability testing.

Your edit in the OP is appreciate, but I don't think it worked out as you might have expected (at least for those of us using the forum in a dark mode.) Here's what it looks like for me (with a big blank area circled):

I guess I'm in... as long as it's cool outside. Is there a way to tell [email protected] to use full power on the CPU, but only medium power on the GPU? (My processor is water cooled, but my video card is still using the FE fans.)

[email protected] uses whatever you throw at it. On the CPU side it runs on a low priority, so you can still use the computer while all spare CPU time goes to the [email protected] client. On the GPU side, well, let's just say it can seriously mess with your framerate if you try to play games while folding.

But of course you can set up your own folding slots (one slot for each processor that folds), and you can manage each slot on its own.

EDIT: For your last question: I think you can, try right clicking on the GPU slot in the advanced control. (accessed from the system tray if you haven't already).

PPD for that 2070 should be over 1 million.

Also, make sure you have your passkey saved.

I was wondering why I had a sudden boost, I picked up a 1660 super for my garage computer the other day, and my production went up 2.5million ppd, I'm impressed with the card but I was quite confident that wasn't the reason lol.

Had to restart my rig. Seems to be fixed. Annoying though, I fear it happening in the middle of the night during a foldathon.
