I bought a ocz Vertex 30gb drive, but they sent me a mac addition. Is there anything special I need to do to make it compatible with Win 7?

The only difference is the boot record that comes preinstalled (which you can manually change anyways). so there is no different. Windows has MBR, while Mac has EFI, or something like that.

Physically the same though.

You shouldn't have to, no. The firmware is universal so just update it and when you target it for the windows install, it will overwrite everything on the drive including the boot record.

According to the specs on their web site, the 30GB Mac Edition is faster than the (not mac edition)..

Probably just a newer model, or newer firmware that would work fine on the "old" drive too. Either way, it's a fast drive.
