I think the 4890 is closer to 10" but I could be wrong.
The 5770 is in the same ballpark and measures just over 8", but it will not be as powerful as a GTX 260. This is probably the fastest single card you will be able to find under 9". You could also go for two GTS 250s(approximately 9" long) in SLI.
firestorm, After reading the long 5770 thread I think you are dead on with your pick +rep. I will get you other guys a little later tonight. I posted just about 2hrs ago with no idea and now I feel very comfortable with the Crossfire 5770 route. It will give me some experience setting up Crossfire on my ASUS M4A79T Deluxe, I shound not even consider a dual core CPU ? (PhotoShop apps.) most definetly C3 stepped 965 (I don't know if 955's got the new stepping).
I am primairly a PhotoShop user and others have said, yes GPU is important but you must concentrate on your CPU and storage, so a moderate setup like my one rig with a single 275 and the backup with Crossfire 5770's is great.
