Odd way to chose a GPU

351 Views 9 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  PCCstudent
I am looking for a GPU and I have a somewhat odd spec that I just don't see commonly listed (perhaps I am not looking in the right place).

Exactly what I want is a card with 275 (or 260) performance specs but with a shorter than the standard 10.5 overall length that 275's come in.

I would be willing to by 2 to if required but they must be about 9' overall. Are these specs commonly listed?

Thanks kow ciller I will look for specs +rep
I think the 4890 is closer to 10" but I could be wrong.

The 5770 is in the same ballpark and measures just over 8", but it will not be as powerful as a GTX 260. This is probably the fastest single card you will be able to find under 9". You could also go for two GTS 250s(approximately 9" long) in SLI.

GTX 260 and GTX 275 are both a little over 10.5" and the ATi 4890 is 10" just measure em

also the 4890 price can't be beat, overclock that mug to be as fast as a GTX 285

If your looking for GTX260ish performance two 9800GTs in SLI would do the trick, and they are relatively small as well

Too bad they would generate much more heat and waste two slots. G92 shouldn't even be a consideration anymore unless doing a low-end build.

firestorm, After reading the long 5770 thread I think you are dead on with your pick +rep. I will get you other guys a little later tonight. I posted just about 2hrs ago with no idea and now I feel very comfortable with the Crossfire 5770 route. It will give me some experience setting up Crossfire on my ASUS M4A79T Deluxe, I shound not even consider a dual core CPU ? (PhotoShop apps.) most definetly C3 stepped 965 (I don't know if 955's got the new stepping).

I am primairly a PhotoShop user and others have said, yes GPU is important but you must concentrate on your CPU and storage, so a moderate setup like my one rig with a single 275 and the backup with Crossfire 5770's is great.
