I did something incredibly stupid. I accidentally set res settings too high in F.E.A.R. and now my monitor won;t display it. Does anyone know of any way to reset defaults without uninstalling game?

You should be able to change the res of the game in one of the .ini or a configuration files of the game usually found in the system folder or equilvent for different games. I dont have the game so i dont know exactily where to find the file(s)

I will pertend I didnt here that and try and help you out.

I had that happen to me in BF2 one time and what I had to do was find the configuration file (which I opened in notepad) and set the default res from 1600x1200 back down to 1280x1024. I dont know were it is in F.E.A.R., but look about for it. Keep clicking on files untill you find something that looks good.

C:\\Documents and Settings\\All Users\\Documents\\Monolith Productions\\FEAR\\settings.cfg

delete it or edit "ScreenWidth" and "ScreenHeight" in notepad

Hope you got what you needed, because since this is admittedly a bootlegged copy, this conversation is over...
