Here is an article about it. It was pushed back by 2 weeks cause the were making the bios better and also adjust the heat sink so it can take bigger heatsinks on the Cpu. There is a pic with the CM V-10 on it.

X58 boards can handle both SLI and Crossfire setups, just not at the same time.. Not sure if that's what you had in mind.

If you just want raw performance, there are many other options that will be much faster than simply going with an i7..

If I was in your shoes, I wouldn't ditch the 940 for a 920.. Instead I'd grab a couple of SSD's for about the same price. That's an upgrade you'll actually notice.

evga x58 classifield and a core i7 920. 920 is a much better buy than a 940 or 965. You wont notice a difference between a 920 and a 940, except u will notice your wallet being lighter.

He already has a 940.. And I'm referring to the X4 940, not i7 940.

Honestly, we won't notice the jump unless he's benchmarking. On the other hand, if he gets some SSD's, his system will be noticeably faster than by simply upgrading the processor.

For the money spent, SSD's are definitely a better option.

idk his sig says GTX280's, implying 2 cards. i7 scales much better with SLI.

you gotta be joking
.. AMD has way more flexibility... Intel however has better performance tho

I too recommend the i7 920 and the EVGA Classified. If you want to go all out, I recommend the Corsair Dominator GT for the RAM.
Well what flexibility do you need??. Whats the rig going to be used for..if its just gaming i7 will be a waste of money, get a phenom II and overclock that..also you dont need a mobo which does sli and xfire..right now both nvidia and ati top of the line gpus will run anything maxed out smoothly so just stick with amd and SLI.

SSD's aren't all that great for all applications. The SCSI Drives in Raid are still faster on the Writing side of things. The SSD's are about the same on the Read. As for reliability i would probably say SSD, but performance, you cant beat SAS drives in Raid 0

Well the first failboat about that EVGA board is the bottom 2 PCIE slots. Most good gpus' these days are double slot. Also, really poor placement of the 1 pci slot. You SLI even 2 cards and bam your only pci slot is covered. What a crappy layout if you ask me.

And so what if i7 can do both ATi and nvidia. And well i7 got beat by a Phenom anyway in 3dm06 (team Finland).

And from what Ive been reading, the i7 doesnt scale that much better to even be noticeable. Its probably the difference between 190 and 200 fps. I guess if you need a bigger epeen then go for it.

i7, is way overpriced IMO. Its a nice chip but the premium isn't worth it IMO. And like waqasr said, if you're just gaming, you probably wont even notice the difference.
