yah i need to get rid of this crt, hurts my eyes and its flickering and will soon die

its some envision 19 inch that was mad cheap. it was a hand me down and its on its last Battle

so i need a gamers LCD, obviousely the few things.
obviousely i want nothing smaller than a 19 inch, was possibly thinking the dell 20 inch widescreen, but i dont liek dell, and not sure if i want to go widescreen or not
i will be running it on a 7800 gt and liek to run my games at 1280 resolution. i need opinions on my choices, i dont liek ghosting, i dont liek bad refreshrate/pixelpitch and no bleedin, no over saturated color, need something around 200-300 bucks, cus the dell one looks good on games, its widescreen, and its only $278 -10% lol =)~

my games include, battlefield2, HL source mods, and Dark age of Camelot

I can attest to the fact that you won't find a nicer panel than the dell 20.1" widescreen.

whether it's the e207 or the 2007wfp, you'll get a nice monitor.

I hate Dell as well, but I didn't care. I wanted the best, so I got it.

the dell monitors are very good.

try to get something with the res max higher than the res you want to run at. and this will allow a nice high refresh rate. also try to get one with under 8ms response time, so you dont get ghosting

widescreen are good too, i happen to know sniperscope off here just got a 19" widescreen for £150, and its very, very good in games.

and yes im still an old school CRT person.... my one cost £25!

ahh i was actually hopeing u would have some input on it =)_
considering i can get a great deal on it i liek that idea
i can get 10% off a new one the ultra sharp, or i get 15% off a refurb, but refurb scares me lol

how is it with the games? no saturation? nothing that would make me angry and wish i still had my crt =?
im tryina get the monitor, and maybe if i have neough money after christmas, il go for im thinkin either opty 165 and oc the slut will have to run mem divider wich i dispise, or i might go for the opty 170/175 for the higher multi, so i can just bump the fsb to somethin simple like 250 fsb, wich is right where my mem maxxes out with tight timings

his monitor?

well it is very good - nice colours

even my parents 17" LG monitor is very nice... im impressed with that too

try to get a new one... i wouldnt trust a refurb if it were me.

try to get either a dell widescreen, or a viewsonic... both are very good makes, but maybe with the viewsonics being a little cheaper

samsung also make some pretty nice monitors too... youve got a good choice and if it were me, i would be looking for a 20 or a 22" widescreen viewsonic

It's perfect.

When I say that, I mean in every way...

It's better than my Dell Trinitron...and that's saying something if you've ever seen one.

No ghosting, no saturation problems, no colour banding, no contrast issues....

Everything is spot on.

Get the ultrasharp. You won't regret it.

my friend tells me that its amazingly bright lol, like so bright he turns the brightness down to liek 10 when surfing the net lol
i just went through the specs of the normal screeen vs the ultrasharp

the ultrasharp says its 16 ms =(

the otherwone wich just doesnt have fancy adjusting display and all that, seems to be the same quality, for FAR less, and 8ms lol

16ms may produce no ghosting, however your are chancing it... so its probably not worth the gamble...

that one on the right in the link looks cool - good monitor!

These days there is really no reason to stick with CRT. LCDs use less power and have pictures that are just as good (I actually think they are better). I have a 19" Viewsonic P95f+b CRT ($250 at time of purchase) and a Samsung 930B ($350 at time of purchase). Both are some of the highest quality monitors you can get in either category, but I would take my Samsung over my Viewsonic any day.
It's called opinion. Don't confuse it with fact.

CRTs still have a better picture. There are certainly benefits that LCDs have over CRTs but put truly comparable quality CRTs against their LCD counterparts and the CRT will win.

I can't stand fanboys but this is one topic I won't budge on yet, CRTs are better. I stick with them because I do graphic design. I would like to switch to all LCDs because of the weight, power consumption, etc. but like I said, those are all benefits and personal opinion, they don't change the fact that CRTs offer a superior picture.
