I bet NO, it is not enough for all settings maxed.
We have 3440 x 1440 g-sync enabled monitors @ 100Hz like X34 and PG348q and on the current latest games you can not max everything and achieve 100 FPS on even 2 x GTX980Ti SLI at the moment.
According to nVidia announcement 1080 is supposed to be faster than Titan X or 980 SLI.... but will it beat Titan X SLI or 980Ti SLI??? I bet not. Otherwise they would have already clamed that instead of it beeing faster than 980 SLI.
So, yeah, you can still play 3440 x 1440 with just a single 1080 with all settings maxed, but my assumption is that you can not get 100fps.... and that for me is not enough.

Anyhow, I hope I'm wrong. I have the PG348q and 980Ti SLI and althoug I would love to dump the SLI config for a single card, I bet I will end up waiting at least for 1080Ti before it's time to upgrade.

Not an nvidia expert but i wouldnt say maxed out but probably very close. 1. you do not need AA of any sort at that resolution, and thats THE biggest fps killer. Believe it or not its almost half of the pixel count as 4k so if a 1080 can do 4k fairly maxed out it should do 3440x1440 no problem.

ULTRAWIDE ftw just got my 29UM68 yesterday and gaming is a totally different ballgame.
