imo its not worth it, unless its only for the looks. I had it and its pretty but simply not worth it compared to mechinical keyboards

if you cant afford a mechanical keyboard and want a keyboard in same style as the lycosa i would get the sidewinder x4 as it has full nkro

i have it, its nice in the beggining, then the keys become a bit hard to press ( its cleaned ), well maybe a logitech its a better option, otherwise go for their new mechanical keyboards. Overall a great keyboard IMO. i give it a 7/10

go for a mechanical! you wont regret it!
I've been looking into some mechanical keyboards as well. Are any of the steel series keyboards good in this regard? I was looking at the shift and that looked pretty neat. Most of razer's mechanicals were really pricey. I don't mind a pricey keyboard if it's actually going to be worth it, so further suggestions would be really awesome!

I ditched the Lycosa for a Steelseries 6Gv2 and don't regret it a single bit. The 6Gv2 is better in every respect. All you're missing on it is backlighting.

Frills don't interest me, performance does. backlighting is completely irrelevant in my case.

I'll search around more. Any more insight/suggestions are appreciated greatly

here bro. Check this keyboard out. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-011-_-Product It's the best keyboard for the price. It's a mechanical keyboard. This means you type faster and you dont have to put as much force on a key for it to register. the only cons are it's glossy so it gets finger prints on it, and some say the clicky noise from the keyboard gets annoying. but i find it soothing lol. Those normal membrane keyboards suck after using this thing! I just ordered mine and am waiting for it!

I agree! Once youve used a mechanical keyboard you never wanna use a normal membrane keyboard again. It feels so mooshy and unresponsive.

The problem with the black widow is its very limited simultaneous key presses - I think its a 2KRO keyboard, correct me if I'm wrong. In fact, I'm pretty sure all Razer's are like that. All I know is I can do combos, on my 6Gv2, that I couldn't with the Lycosa.. Even with the 6Gv2 connected via USB.

The 6Gv2 costs about the same as a Lycosa, but will last 10x longer.

The shift isn't mechanical, and the only two keyboards that Razer makes that are mechanical are the Blackwidows.

Practically any keyboard with a normal layout and Cherry MX keys surpasses any rubber dome easily. There is a huge amount of mechanical keyboards available today, and although it seems daunting, it isn't. I personally recommend Cherry MX switches, they all feel really nice, and I'd gladly have a keyboard with any variation of it. If you stick within that range, newer boards can be quite expensive compared to your standard oem keyboard. They are definitely worth the price though. I recommend doing research on your own, and picking out a few boards that you like. There is plenty of user reviews for every cherry board out, so check those out after, and make a final decision. All the info is out there, all you need to do is read it.
