AM3 phenom 2 x3 processors work just fine in AM2 boards. im currently running a 720 BE @ 3.8ghz on my gigabyte AM2 board and im actually satisfied with what i have.(usually i find something i dont like so i get something new lol) really cant go wrong with a 790GX am2+ board and a phenom2 x3 or x4.
