Just got my Opteron 165 in the mail from NCIX.

Seems there's mixed results with this stepping.

Let's hope to see 2.6 (hopefully 2.7) on this good 'ol xp-120.

Do you think it'll fit since the bracket's been modified for no IHS?

give it a try and find out....you would know better than us. you should get 2.6 no problem, but you never know. Some chips are duds, but the odds are definetly in your favor to get high clocks.

Tested it with dual prime for 10 minutes at stock and it passed. Will run dual prime each step for 10 minutes until I find the right clock and then go for several hours.

Clocking it up right now, baby!

1.21v (stock is 1.3)
I'm at 2025Mhz right now....this thing is rock solid so far!

Hopefully it keeps going well at these volts, cause these 34C load temps are awesome!

why are you decreasing the voltage?
Just leave it at default which is 1.35, and give 2.5 a shot right out of the HOLE!!

I just estimated in BIOS what would be stock...and it ended up at that....now it's at 1.32 at 2340. Here it goes for a big jump...hang on to your socks folks!
(I only increased cause I thought tha was stopping me...but it was my ram timings...now they're good for up to 310 or so....I was just too lazy to see if it'd work at lower...but either way I'm going big now. Back soon to let you know!

toss a divider on that memory and just clock the cpu, put a HUGE divider so you know it's just the chip that can be the cause of instability. Also make sure you are changing your HTT multi with the different FSB speeds..

I have GEiL One TCCD! It's stable up to over 300FSB.

Either way...it just passed at 2520 at 1.32 and I'm shooting for more. Be back soon!

what is the pwmic temp? It's getting a little hot under dual prime.
290x9 primed for 35 minutes then one core failed...I'm working on tweaking it to be stable at 300x9 and will work it down from there...

Anybody got any tips on memory timings that Opterons like? Obviously my 3500+ setting will not work. Tried those and I got memory error beep codes. Back in a few...

I can only prime for about 30 minutes! What else can I try? I can't get this Opteron nice and settled. I'm at 1.37v and it's not stable...any help?

I'm stuck guys! I can't even get it stable at 2610! I need to get it to at least 2.6! my 3500+ was at 2651 so I wanna get close to the gaming performance I had before...

any tips on getting there?

LOL, man, that's funny.....the sweet spot (which i dont really believe in) is gonna be much higher than that, and anyways, up the vcore to try. I would be starting with 1.5-1.55 and get that to 2.7.
The PWMIC temperature should be the mosfets by the cpu. I believe it measures the temperature of the current flowing from the PSu or something. Mine gets up to 50c under load.

how are your max temps under priming?

The PWMIC is the temp of the mosfets (sp?) around the voltage regulator I belive.

Max cpu temps are around 48.

I swear it's the "sweetspot"...I'll try higher, but I already went above this and it primed for a lot less time (10 minutes, then 30 seconds)...I think it's more about temps with these babies.

Well...I told you so. I worked my way up to 1.56 and nothing along the way helped (all made it worse). I HAVE found the sweetspot of my voltage. Now I need to bring down those damn pwmic temps so the voltage doesn't get higher when it starts getting hot and cause it to fail prime (that's what I'm pretty sure is causing this). Any tips on cooling it?
