I'm not sure about Anthlons... Do you mean Athalons?
Depends on the model, really. 939 Opterons clock for clock are better than their desktop counterparts.

Which models do you have? (This will tell us which is faster at stock, at least.)

Incorrect. This is a long-enduring myth, per my experience.


Assuming we're talking about Athlons with 1MB L2 cache, they are essentially the same product. Feature for feature, they are identical.

that i dont know... the heat spreaders were removed i got them for a sale..

For whatever reason i think i read somewhere the opteron was dual core..but i doubt it

Both the Athlon and Opteron product lines had dual-core chips available.

When in doubt, mount them on your board and fire up CPU-Z.
