I was wondering which Opteron would be the best to buy and OC?? Also, which core is the best??? Since the new price cuts, I want to buy one.

If you have the money conroe, if not opteron. (im assuming we are talking 939 vs LGA) You will see better performance if you go with the conroe. However, if you go with the opteron the ram from your old rig will be usable...

Well I don't think the computer I ordered on eBay is coming through since the guy hasn't answered me in a few days So i am looking to build a new one. I am just waiting to file a PayPal claim.

EDIT: I was looking into AM2 too. I was looking at this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103733 to possibly OC to 3.0Ghz

NVM that only has 2X512kb L2 Cache

Conroes are sweet, not doubt about it, but you do need to cough up the bucks for a MB that can make them shine!

Start asking in the Intel section, I only know a little of the basics being the MB selection is very important!
Some prefer the P5B but like I said, go ask the Conroe experts on that one.

The AM2 with the right CPU, like the one you chose, a good MB to complement it and some good RAM you can build a very powerful AM2 system too!

Well I do have the money, it's just I don't like to part with it. $168 compared to $315 for the E6600 with the 4MB shared Cache
