For gaming 2 gig sets are better than 1 gig, as games such as bf2 already push 1 gig sets to their limits. Most people see a few fps increase in such games when upgrading to 2 gig sets and can eliminate their page files completely. However, the most important component in gaming is obviously your graphics card. So if buying great 1 gig sets of 2 gig sets will affect how much you have for your graphics card, then i would suggest a 1 gig stick of good ram and a better graphics card, then buy another stick later.
