After a week of fenegaling around, Monarch PC finally send me my Opteron 165. It arrived today and I plan to play around with it this weekend (I have midterms next week but they can wait ). It's a CCBBE; have any of you guys heard of that stepping? To bad I still have not build my WC (I'm too damn lazy).

I think that's the best stepping, isn't it? Supposed to reach around 3.0GHz.

from what I hear it should be 0610,0615, or 0617 (3.0 garunteed if your board can push it)are the golden steppings I believe... I'm sure someone will mention if I'm wrong.... I'm hoping for any of the above when I mine shows up next week

Shaggyt

Edit: I also hear those speeds are possible on air with right cooler

It's a CCBBE 0615DPMW, an acording to this it should average out at 2.8GHz.
http://wiki.extremeoverclocking.com/wiki/Opteron
My EPOX has not let me down so far, so I may be in for some HOT OC action (cheap porno music in the background)

LOLto cheap porno music Im hoping for a stepping along those lines since I'd love to break the 3g barrier.... got the +3200 to 2.75 but ram was sooo slow it was counterproductive... took coming here and letting the pros teach me so I got a much better running 2.6.... I'm soooooooooo anxious lol
I'm not even worried about 3.0GHz, I'd be extremly happy with ~2.8GHz..Which I'll be able to try out Monday, or Tuesday...But I doubt I'll be that lucky.

Now I remember why I took my BT off... the fricking thing took me an hour to install .
Anyways, this is my OC so far. It's only been a few hours in Prime. I'm surprised at how much warmer this things get (it's fricking cold today, 60*F); I think I WILL need that WCing afterall.

Nice, on low voltage also . I have mine at 2.9 with 1.375 v however in order to hit the 3.0 mark and run stable i need to push the vcore up to 1.575. So i decided to leave it at 2.9 and 1.375 v, if figured why bother giving it all that extra juice for that little bit of gain.

Wow do these things heat up. I'm still running Prime (it's not stable until it hits the 24hr. mark) with only the increased frequency (2.7 @stock) and it's loading at 50*c. This is with a BT and a 90CFM fan (full blast) with ambient temps. of about 85*F. Come summer I better have my WC ready.
And when at 334x9 at about 1.55v load is around 43C
