Ordered XXX got Vapor-X : keep or RMA?

Hey lads, i finally got my third 5870. I paid for an XXX but they sent the Vapor-X version. Some dude did not know I had it reserved and sold it to someone else. So now, I have myself a Vapor-X. 25% fan temps are 35 degrees and at 50% fan idle temps are 27 degrees. This is 50% lower than the 4890XXX. I don't really have experience with Vapor-X cards and considering I had to RMA 2 Sapphire 5870 cards after 2 days of usage I am a bit scared of it
.

I had to rma my shappire too, and I would be pissed since xfx has a double lifetime warrenty and shappire is only two years.
resell on ebay
make a nice profit, then take the money for a xxx, my idea

In my area, the Vapor-X and XXX have the same price. There are no 5870 cards available. So if I sell or send it back, I will wait another month to find a 5870.

I think you'd only be losing on the XFX warranty that is well... really long
.

If you upgrade often then and 2 years is enough for you then I would think the Vapor-X is better but it depends on preferences.

I ordered in 2 of the XXX edition 5870s I'm not sure I would return them if I got vapor-x's.

then it makes more then sense to resell
try to find someone that wants it soo bad xD, on fleabay i saw vapor x's go above 500 cpl days ago. which is one part of the reason why i would do my best to resell / get rid of the card, part two:

i had two sapphire cards, one 4870x2 and a 4870 toxic, the first of which i had to rma twice to get a working one, each time they tried to get 15 bucks for the rma fee of sapphire's service... which is why i picked up quickly on chosing a different manufacturer. could be that they finally removed the RMA Fees, as its more then bogus to charge a person who has a broken part due to manufacturer error.

The annoying part is that is so cool
. Temps are so low, lower than the XXX version. I have two of those and they are not as cool. They are very loud compared to the Vapor-X

Start it at the price you paid. Nowadays it will sell on ebay. You'll get at least what you paid, if not more. Then buy again later. You're 4890's should hold you over until supplies levels out

Or, you can always keep it. I have heard they are great cards, and so far you see why. So the warranty isn't an XFX warranty. I would avoid any XFX ATI products myself (even the motherboards have gone down hill lately)
What problems did you guys have with the cards you rma'd?

Mine were artifacting at any setting and resolution. The artifacts were even more obvious when AA was on. This was a brand new CFX 5870 setup from Sapphire.

You got the best 5870 on the market. Dunno what people are smoking by telling you to sell it, lol
XFX Lifetime warranty is overrated. Who keeps a card longer than 3-5 years anyway?

Keep it.

Sapphire and Vapor-X are both better then XFX and XXX.

It's just true, warranty aside they are more solid products on the ATi side, it will retain it's value a lot longer too, on this forum for example, someone selling a Sapphire Vapor-X card is going to have a much easier task then anyone selling something XFX on the ATi side. They simply have not proven themselves yet, and they keep disproving themselves in my eyes.

I personally would keep the Saph, but it's your purchase and your money. But think of this, you've rma'd 2 xfx's, maybe they have to have that warranty for a reason...

Cheap bastards keep them. I've only got my HD4870 coming in tomorrow, been using an ASUS 6600. Not even GT. Just 6600. It's been more than 5 years

Keep and overclock that suckka!

Running a 4870 from Sapphire with custom heatsink, runs nice and cool, and running like the day I bought it (nearly a year ago).

I like Sapphire. I would keep that card. Performance, cooling wise, I say stick with the Sapphire.

True that. Sapphire is not a hard company to RMA with either. I did 2 4870x2s with them and had no problems. Same turnaround time as most companies. They even offer seperate service to those without receipts.
