I currently own a Dual Core AMD Desktop which is running at 2.20GHz with 2GB of DDR Ram at the stock 600MHz. I am considering buying the new Apple MacBook Pro 2.16GHz model to replace this computer, I plan on making slideshows, printing pictures, and things along those lines instead of playing games. With Apple's great software, style, function, and usability I am leaning towards getting the MacBook Pro. So, basically my question is:
Should I get the new Apple MacBook Pro (15.4" Glossy Display, 2.16GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GB of 667 DDR2 Ram, 120GB HDD model.) or should I upgrade my computer and get a new Intel processor, new DDR2 Ram, and a new ATI graphics card?

I know I'm bias, I just want your honest opinions... and some

I've used Mac's in school since 2nd grade, and I'm very pleased with them. I'm a casual gamer and don't need a top-of-the-line computer... unlike some people... *cough* Remonster *cough* I have a budget of about $2500 for the actual computer and $500 for extra items (Mice, Speakers, Cases, etc.). So I'm just wondering what's the better computer of the two for my situation.

If you don't need to move alot, i would definetly upgrade your system.
Almost every software that exists in mac, exists in wiondows.
Like photoshop, autocad , etc.
Youll get a better performance , less heat problems , and upgrade capabale pc, if you get a desktop pc.
If you really want a apple, bu it doesn't need to be great. grab a macmini, they're like macbooks in a square.

My mom takes lots of photos of family and friends so I will use it at home for homework, games, photo/video editing, etc. But, it would be nice to be able to take it places and play slideshows or show my family pictures. So, I'm basically looking for a powerful, portable laptop. Not like an Alienware mALX but also not a $1000 laptop with 2 year old parts.

Thanks, guys. I need to save up my Birthday money, Christmas money, and wait for report cards to get one.
... maybe sooner, I'll make sure to post about it once I get it.
