Hello!
As u can see I a newbe so I need some help in learning how to over clock. I've been reading up on it but I'm not sure whats good for my setup. I kind of need a walk though on the whole thing. But something I can understand ya know? Anyway, one question I have is that if the BIOS tells me that the speed is 100MHz and My processor is 400MHz does that mean i need to change the speed in the BIOS past 400MHz or does it so the speed differently for a reason? Do u know what I mean...

2) Intel CPU’s are “quad pumped†internally (Intel’s word for the process). What this means, I couldn’t tell you exactly…something along the lines of frequency multiplication. What this equates to for the end user is the front side bus will be ¼ the CPU’s advertised bus speed. If you have a 400 mhz FSB CPU, in BIOS it will be 100 mhz stock FSB speed. If you have a 533 mhz FSB CPU, in BIOS it will be 133 mhz stock FSB speed. Etc etc.

And i Guess i dont understand if I increase the FBS speed from 100MHz or just shoot it up to 400MHz... But im guessing you do it from 100.. i dunno.

well of couse i have a 533mhz FSB and in the BIOS it says:

CPU host : 133

533 is your FSB

and 133 is your host .

do the multiplier X the CPU host speed = your total CPU speed

Ok cool so I start out at 100MHz... Im wondering if anyone else has dealt or knows anything about the Gigabite P4Titan Mother Board and Celeron mix.

well i have ALMOST the same processor, 100mhz less.
Try upping the FSB in increments of 1mhz until you've reached the max FSB, or whatever speed you would like. Right now I'm running at 133.4 x 4 = 533.6mhz, with a speed of 3200mhz, compared to 100 x 4 = 400mhz

Ok ill go for it.. but i tried just off the bat to go to 133 and my computer didnt let that fly. I know for the setup i have.. it sould be able to handle it but it didn't. Oh and last post it didnt show my computer stats. Does it always do that? or is that cause i messed with my signature... How do i turn that back on?

ya, i tried that same thing right off the bat too, but i had to do a couple of burn ins at lower speeds to get to 133, the highest i can get after doing 4 prime 95 tests to get it going as fast as possible is 139fsb, and its somewhat unstable then... and the reason theres no sig, there, well i think its just that your sig is only posted at your first post on everypage

Ok... so it seems unstable if i go past 116.... Um is there anything I can do to get higher or is that it?

did you put the vcore up any? i know since its a celeron it wont get very hott, i would just throw her on 1.6v and just keep going up and up and UP!!! lol

No i havent tried that! i how hot do u think i can run it!? how high did u get it?

the highest im getting now is like 40c max, and like 17-22c idle, so just give it a try, see how it turns out, but you should tryin upping the voltages in increments too, you dont want to put it on 1.6 and then find out your getting 70c idle temps lol

Ok so what should i increase... my CPU voltage, my DIMM voltage, or my AGP voltage?

Increase your Cpu voltage be small incriments, but you should make sure to keep it under a certain level (shawn should know for celerons). As you up your fsb and the syetem becomes unstable, try upping the vcore a little more. At some point you will find the highest stable fsb, and the vcore that will support it.

whats the highest Vcore your motherboard supports? Unfortunatly, mine only goes up to 1.6

You absolutly wont have to worry about heat! I have it at 1.6v and 3200mhz, and I caught it at 16C idle today! WOW! Just check once in a while to see how its doing, if you feel uncomfortable with the temps, just lower the vcore a little bit.

up the vcore a bit until it comes to a more stable condtion

Northwood processors : stay under 1.7 V which i would recommend

Prescott : stay under 1.550 ( i think)

remember each processor is made differently and has it's own limits to overclocking.
