Welcome to Overclock Labs. This forum is the private area which will act as the base of operations for this group.

A few notes:

Please treat the entire contents of this forum, and its subforums, as confidential. We may occasionally deal with products that have an information embargo until a certain date - this will be clearly noted whenever applicable, and your compliance with any embargoes (whether on a signed NDA or simply a request for press purposes) is essential for your continued participation in the program. If ever in doubt, clarify with @Chipp before releasing any information.

Please subscribe to the "Review Opportunities" subforum. The majority of the time you will not be contacted individually for a review opportunity, they will be posted here for the team to claim. Reviews are available first-come, first-serve for the most part - but please be considerate. If you feel like you've been claiming many reviews recently and not allowing others a fair chance, wait a bit, or check with someone else before claiming. If management feels this is happening and is going unnoticed, you may also be asked to skip out on a round in order to allow someone else a chance.

Feel free to treat the top-level forum (this one) as a lounge, an area for working drafts, discussion of the craft, or anything else relevant. Get to know your fellow reviewers. Help each other out.

Any questions? Let me know. I am your primary contact for this program. @el gappo is your secondary contact if I am unavailable.

Thanks, and welcome again.

Hey Chip,
Thanks for the welcome and the opportunity to participate in the program.
As well as (hopefully) publishing some decent content under the OCN banner I would like to get to know my fellow participants better.
By knowing each other better we can offer better assistance if/when required and it seems like a great way to network among like-minded peers.

In saying that, you may wish to know a bit more about me and what I'm about,
So as an introduction to you guys about myself - I think I will just copy my application email here as I think it says a lot about me and where I am currently at.

Chat Soon,
f_f

Hi,
My name is Darren and I'm from Perth, Australia.
I've been an OCN member for only 4 years, but have been into computers for the past 3 decades.
I am currently on the staff list at Extreme Rigs and have been testing and reviewing radiators for the massive round-up that was recently published.
It was here on OCN that I first started testing the water cooling equipment that I had laying around and as time progressed my testing got more professional and moved to publishing on ER.

I am most interested in water cooling, and crazy as it sounds I am embarking on another radiator round-up, the 280mm flavor this time.
Concurrent to the 280 rads I am also testing 140mm fans (CFM, Noise and response curves for PWM or voltage) which go hand in hand with the 140.x radiators.
Also in the pipeline is to expand my pump data and review them and also a hard-line fittings round-up has commenced.

I also have a keen interest in custom wiring, but my interests are noy only limited to those which I have mentioned.
I had the world number 3 for overclocking on X79 with a trusty 3930K at one point, although not having done any serious benching in a while, I do wish I could do more.

While I have kind of neglected the thread I started for posting data her on OCN - I en-devour to up-date it at some stage with the enormous amount of data that I have compiled over the past 12 months.

So while my focus will remain with ER, I think that joining the OCN group could have mutual benefits.
So that's me in a short factual type story, kind of how I do my write ups.
Perhaps one day I will be considered for an assignment to the OCN Labs, but until then I'll happily review whatever you throw at me (within reason) LOL
Hope to hear from you soon.
Like I said - it is a bit neglected (OK very neglected ATM), but the platform is there already.
Perhaps this is something you can use as part of the review program - the database for water cooling info.
- and maybe this is my role
- keep the thread/index updated with other reviewers data ?
- something to have a think about anyways
OCN Community Water Cooling Test Thread
Hey everyone!

Glad to see a few familiar names here already! I'm sure we'll all have a bunch of fun doing these reviews Thank you for the great opportunity also!

I'm Stéphane (pronounce Stay-fawn ish...), you can just call me Steven . I'm a 26 year old industrial engineer with a passion for computers from New Brunswick Canada, but living in Québec (about 1 hour away from snef and akira). I'm fluently bilingual in both French and English (written and spoken).

I’ve been heavily involved in building computers, mostly enthusiast builds, for the past 3-4 years. I’m VERY up to date with all current market offering. In the past 6 months, I’ve managed to get 11 different sponsors, with more to come, which says a lot about my abilities to produce a great thread and have pertinent content.

I’ve also been approached by another smaller review website, but I by far would prefer to do these reviews for OCN.

With my current project (click) you know the parts will be put through their paces by folding and benchmarks.

I also have a sweet spot for cases and I’m still looking for one that I can keep for a while. I currently own the following cases : Fractal Design Define R4, Arc Mini R2, Antec ISK600, Bitfenix Prodigy and Corsair Air 240. I have owned an Antec 900, 302 and 1200. Oddly, the only one that was never modded was the 1200!

If you have any questions or need a proof read later on or anything, let me know

Oh god, I would trade my 4690K and Z97i-PLUS against an ITX am3+ board with 63xx/83xx processor. I loved my 6350 to bits, I only changed because I had an upgrade bug and I wanted to go smaller!

So guess I'll do the introduction too

My name is actually Ino, I'm from Germany and 31 years old.
I'm a mechanical engineer and am currently employed as a program manager for a key supplier in the automotive industry.

I was about to write a really long and boring story how I ended up being fascinated by gaming mice and their technological advances (or lack thereof) but I scrapped that for now
So in short: I review gaming mice, with a focus on giving an objective, databased performance evaluation. So far this mainly means max tracking speeds, perfect control speeds and speed related accuracy variance together with components used and switches, wheels, coating etc. But lately some more methods for proper evaluation of cursor response have surfaced and I plan to implement these too in upcoming reviews.

I'm pretty thrilled about the whole Overclock Labs and happy to be on board.

Hello, I am Edwin. I'm a grad student in the US studying physics.
During the past year or so I have gotten interested in the technical details of gaming mice and have done a lot of work studying and reverse engineering the inner workings of mice. As Ino alluded to, one of the especially interesting and important aspects of mice is their tracking performance, and I've been working on finding new ways to objectively evaluate subtle aspects such as responsiveness. Among some of the hardcore gaming and mice communities, there is the pervading philosophy that older sensors/mice are more "raw"/" accurate"/"responsive" due to newer sensors requiring more processing to achieve the higher dpis or that mice drivers/software can significantly affect tracking, and while there is some truth to this, I hope that with more hard data the community can draw more accurate conclusions and be less paranoid about certain things. Anyway... I haven't written any full reviews before but I look forward to testing new mice and doing in-depth technical analyses of them.

What's up team,

My name is Ryan, been on OCN since 06', been pretty active all the while. I got promoted to be a Chat Mod for a while when Chat was active, then moved on to be a [email protected] Editor. This was my most active role, where I managed the Team and regular [email protected] competitions. I loved how the points were calculated and knew a vast amount of things when I was doing that role. After that, I retired to focus more on family and my career. Since doing so, I have always stayed current with the latest tech and as of most recently just started my own YouTube channel, RG TeK, reviewing computer tech. When this opportunity came to surface, I thought I had alot to offer in terms of being a PC hardware enthusiast.

Currently working on the EVGA X99 Micro2 motherboard review.

I'm MunneY, or Joey as the real world calls me, and I'm what you would call an ULTRA enthusiast! I've been on OCN since 2012 I believe but lurked for about a year before that! I'm currently working in IT as a Product specialists for a Fortune 500 company. I'm currently starting my 2nd youtube channel with reviews and news, after having to let the 1st one go because of a dispute with an MCN . Some of you might know me from that, or you might know me from my build logs here on the site. Either way, I'm glad to be a part of this. I've reviewed pretty much all tech, except for peripherals, so I'm game for just about anything that I can assist with. I also own enough photo and video gear to make my wife mad :-D. Look forward to working with everyone and pushing OCN further!

Hey everyone!

I am a 31 year old Exchange Administrator for Chesapeake Energy by day.

I have been building computers since I was 13 years old, but went on hiatus after joining the military in 2003. I started dabbling again around 2008~2009.

In my spare time, I have been doing odds and ends of computing. Most recently I have taken up programming and have decided to finish my Software Engineering degree. Some of you may or may not know of my programs available on OCN (all freeware) but the links are in my signature and I run my website for sharing mostly programming information, systems administration tips, or PowerShell scripts from. (bytemedev.com).

My favorite thing to do is share knowledge and my unique perspective, doing my best to try and stay balanced. I think it is like a muscle that if you don't force yourself to use, you lose it. I have written various articles of the years when the mood strikes me and I have always enjoyed it. I am very hard on myself, not giving myself hardly any credit, but I guess I am starting to realize I do have ideas and answers to offer people.

I have always thought it to be a dream job to review the latest and greatest hardware, but only if the hardware isn't going to cost your family groceries that week. So here I am!

Good to be working with you all!

Hello to everyone

I wonder what the first installment of assignments will be
Hopefully something that is up everyone's ally to kick things off.
So if you read my blob above these types of cables are usually something like 40G MPO fiber at work. But by night I like to take other kinds of measurements as well :

From the looks of things, I must be the only person who doesn't pay their bills with a career in the IT field. By day I work in the automotive industry, wherein I have recently switched occupations to being a collision repair estimator. Prior to, I was a 'parts guy' for an Acura dealership for the better part of a decade; yes I am a Honda fanboy. By night I am a Honda, auto detailing, and PC/Tech enthusiast. I'm sure not many here are console gamers, but I must mention my love for just about everything Nintendo.

I have been a member since Oct 2012, but didn't become very active until the R9 290(X) cards were released in late 2013. The 290 thread is where I initially spent most of my time and made an FAQ for them, a 290/970 comparison and an Omega Drivers benchmark shoot out. My favorite parts of modding/tweaking/overclocking are squeezing the most out of less, finding that sweet spot, and silence! For example my 4790k cruises along silently @ 4.7GHz and is cooled only by an aging 120mm Antec AIO with a single thermistor controlled fan.

I have had the pleasure of being an EggxPert product reviewer for NewEgg for the last 2.5 years. I have reviewed numerous types of products ranging from motherboards, NAS boxes and Li-Ion power banks to Wi-Fi range boosters. I thoroughly enjoy taking a gadget/gizmo, putting it through its paces, taking notes, and sharing that information with others.

I'm really looking forward to the program and getting to know my fellow reviewers.

Cheers!

Hey guys!

Another Ryan here; I've been a member and part of the benching scene for a number of years. I prefer my systems with 'solder'..and enjoy modding for performance. Through my years here on OCN, I have modified more than two dozen gpus for folders and benches alike. My niche will be performance reviews for RAM and GPUs, as well as some guides for various benching related functions (OS tuning, TIM for XOC, insulation etc).

My professional time is taken up by installation and maintenance of large emulation farms. In my off time I play games with my son's and enjoy participating in hwbot competition's. If work permits I would like to get back to active benching to improve my rankings in the community (currently 11th in US for XOC).

I'm happy to be supporting OCN and the OC/Hwbot community.

Check in time I suppose,

My real name is Mike, I'm a supervisor at a fluoropolymer chemical plant in Decatur, Alabama by day. I'm a transplanted Wisconsinite, 42 years old and a father of 2 hellions ages 10 and 12.

Nights and weekends I take on the persona of Gunslinger, known to overclock to the extreme and mow down noobs in BF4

I tend to lean towards CPU/GPU/RAM type testing, and am quite happy to be here with you guys.

Has no one else been accepted in this program yet?

2 Waves have passed and we're around 10 (from what I see).

Quote:
