overclocked e5200 with stock cooler. need some help

I overclocked my e5200 from 2.5 to 3.00 ghz
using asus P5KPL-VM with stock cooler
since that mobo dont have vcore adjustment i used 20% overclock profile. got 800 mhz kingston ram which i set to 667 mhz.

so i ran everest ultimate's stress test for abuot 5 mins and temps were

cpu temp 68-72 (70 average)

core 1 temp = 60 average
core 2 temp = 60 average

are these good enuff or should i decrease the overclock a bit, maybe use 15% increase profile?

right now on idle the temps are

44 for the core 1
42 for the core 2

cpu temp is 50

any help would be appreciated

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ +++++++++++++

EDIT:

got another problem

i reset the FSB and settings to stock (2.5ghz)

but there isnt ANY change in the tempreture on 100% load.

i mean i tried 30% overclock (3.2 ghz) still 70 degrees average on full load 50 on idle
i tried 20% overclock (3.0 ghz) still 70 degrees average on full load 50 on idle
i tried 15% overclock (2.8 ghz) still 70 degrees average on full load 50 on idle
i tried 0% overclock (2.5 ghz) still 70 degrees average on full load 50 on idle

also prime 95's small fft stress test gives exactly the same results (tempreture wise)
I tried the Intel E8400 with a stock cooler and it overheated right away after the boot. I think I didn't mount it correctly, but I believe temperature was around +90C for sure.

NOTE: overclocked, 4.00GHz (1.30V).

^^^^ yeah for that much overclock a good cooler would be a nice idea

anywayz i forgot to mention 1 thing

that i have disabled intel speed step thingy. i dont even know what it does but i disabled it anyways

pppppppppplllllllllllllllllzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz zzzz

anyone?
What do you want to know? Those temps are within the safe operating temp, but I would still upgrade the cooler.
70c is a red line. Imagine that as an rpm gauge. 70c being the same as 9k.
You wanna stay under 70c. I personally say never go over 65c at the most. 5min of test is not enough to get full temps either. I would say at least 20-30min.
I would back it down to 12-15%.

I'm running 1.385v, 1.36v at load at 3.36ghz. I'm idling in the 40's and max temp hits about 64c after an hour of orthos small fft. Find the latest version of realtemp if you don't already have it.

Almost forgot, I'm running with AS ceramique, even though with stock stuff I didn't have much higher temps.

Make sure your push pins are completely in, they can be a real pain in the.... If you have better thermal paste around try reapplying thermal paste. You also might want to check around in the bios for fan control, turn it off or adjust so it's running at higher % than normal.
OMG i just ran prime 95 on stock speed 2.5ghz and still getting 70 degree
wth is this man?!!??!
no change in temp
why is that???
real temp program show 60 but everest shows 73 for cpu and 60 for each core even on stock speeds

Glad I could help!

For temp's I always use HW Montior . Always show's the same temp's as my bios.

It's odd that the temps didnt change. Might want to check to make sure you have your cooler properly seated. Stock heatsinks aren't very good, but they wouldn't ship a cpu with a cooler that let's it hit max temps. So double check the seating and thermal paste application.

Grab up CpuZ while your at it. Put the CPU under full loud via P95 Small FTT's, with that running. Check the voltage running through your CPU, let us know.

yea i've been using hwmonitor and realtemp and both show about 40-44 degrees when doing the everyday thing like browsing watching movies etc.

okay i ran cpu-z while runniong small fft test of prime 95.
core tempretures = 60-64 degrees both cores (HWmonitor)
core voltage = 1.176v (cpu-z)

as my motherboard don't support vcore adjustment i've used the profile thingy to 20%.

so are these temp's at 100% safe? i do a lot of gaming though.

also with 500mhz of overclock my 3dmark 06 score increased an 1100 points

from 9473 to 10668

If your at 64c at 100% load i would say you'll be alright.
