Overclocking my core i7 940 to 4.0 ghz - can someone chime in?

Hello Everyone,

I'd like to know what steps I can take to slowly start overclocking up there... ie. 3.2 / 2.5 / 3.7 / 3.9 / 4.01.

I know this is one of the only placed I'd be able to get help, so let me know what measurements you need, etc. My current temps are about 30C on the processor, running a single loop through my vid card.

I have Everest, Prime 95, RealTemp (Which I dislike; prefer Everest much more).

Thanks!

set your vcore to 1.35v, your mem timings and voltages to its default values, mem ratio to 2:8 if 1600mhz or 2:6 if 1333, set vtt to within .5v of your ram... I keep mine at 1.28v, set your uncore freq to twice ur dimm freq... Now keep increasing bclk untill it becomes unstable... At this point you will need to up the voltages more...
Thank You! Will try this now.
