Overclocking my Mobility 4670

What's the best approach when doing this? I have never owned an ATI card before! I have a Dell Studio XPS 1640 with specs in my sig.

Running MW2 alright but I'd like to see if I can get it to perform slightly better.

Thanks

Its a mobility card, so I would assume that its in a laptop. Because its Dell and Dell is full of prudes you probably dont have access to the bios so you will have to use an ATI program which arent that hard to find. However I dont know how good the cooling in your laptop is so I wouldnt push it too far because of the limited heat dissipation found in most laptops.
Downloaded GPU-Z to keep an eye on temps. I won't let it get too hot, just need a little extra oomph. Do you know which ATI program to use?
Is Overdrive enabled in the ATI Catalyst Control Center?

I went in there but couldn't find anything about overdrive. Do I have to download it separately? I downloaded the mobility drivers from ATI's website directly, not through Dell.

Downloaded the thing that you linked me to, but I'm pretty sure that's what I had before. Still don't see any overdrive option anywhere.

I have a Studio with a 4670, there's no Overdrive option in Catalyst, I don't believe there's any way to overclock the GPU either.
while I wouldn't recommend it for a few reasons:
  • My mobility 4670 hits 90+C fairly regularly, and the Studio XPS and Asus X83VP heatsinks are of similar size
  • Still haven't found published thermal specifications from ATI, so I honestly don't know how far the temps can be pushed
If you're absolutely dying to get better performance without turning down settings...

Dig up Rivatuner/EVGA Precision and see if it works. If i remember right prior to reloading my lappy with Win7 Pro x64, Riva gave me options but I never messed with them since the upper heat level was undefined from my perspective.
