hey all,

i am just really here asking for some information and some answers to some of the questions i have been thinking.

i am currently overclocking using my multi, if i upped the FSB to 200 and put a 12X multi i am running 2.4GHz, Vcore 1.75 and should be stable, if i however put a 14Xmulti and a 200FSB and have a clock speed of 2.8GHz am i going to completely screw the CPU?

also what will the temps be like?

anyone able to post there settings for AthlonXP to help me out and come to a descision.

i know that Overclocking can cause damage, thats ok with me really new upgrade soon, but i want a great overclock before i close the curtain on my Athlonxp

thanks for all help if you can provide
I suggest you go slowly. Dont go from Multi 12 - 14 straight away. Vcore usually cause the cpu to heatup quickly. Just increase FSb by 5. Usually you won't "wreck" your CPU too easily. It'll start becoming screwy and reboot a few times at its limit.

I'd say stick to upping your multiplier. It will get gradually faster every time you do it, so take care with it. I've seen people doing over 2v in their AthlonXPs, but I do not suggest you do that. My limit would be 1.8v and sub-55c.

yup i am at 14X multi highest i have been so far without it screwing up on me. i have ran it before at 12X200 and i got 2.4Ghz but was unstable, didnt know about the Vcore at that time though, now i do. so that maybe somthing i can try. i have been up by 5MHz at a time before and my HDD became Corrupt. so its somthing i want to sway from and keep FSB which are common.

You seem to have no idea how to overclock. You're just randomly changing things. Try reading this:
i do have idea on how to overclock i have done it, by overclock with multi and FSB, i just dont completely understand it, but i can overclock. when i overclocked my FSB i got corruption that was at 200FSB, and a 12.5 multi, no dividers set as it wasnt needed ram was still running stock.

i will read the guides your posted, but asumption is fundermental mistake.

EDIT: i dont have a PCI lock so HDD corrupts

Do you use CPU-Z to check?

dude i aint a n00b overclocker of course i use CPU-Z i also use Speedfan to monitor my temps whilst running a Prime95, then if that goes ok with no errors i run a memtest to test to see if the ram is ok?

i do know about overclocking like i posted, just dont fully understand the long term effects and such.

12.5x166FSB = 2083Mhz 1.7Vcore STABLE
11X200FSB = 2200MHz 1.7Vcore STABLE
11.5X200FSB = 2300Mhz 1.75Vcore STABLE
14X166.6FSB = 2332.94Mhz 1.75Vcore STABLE
12X200FSB = 2400Mhz 1.75Vcore UNSTABLE/REBOOTS AFTER BOOT SCREEN
