I just got my EVGA 7800GS and installed it. This thing is sweet!

I am very new to all this overclocking stuff and was wondering if somebody would be kind enought to give me a laymans version of how to overclock my 7800gs. In addition to the card, I have a vantec card fan cooler mounted in the slot directly below the 7800GS for extra cooling. Not sure how much it helps, but its better than nothing

What are the steps to do this?

What program is the best to use?

What is the max speeds I should overclock to?

Thanks all!

Which EVGA 7800gs do you have? If it is the superclocked version there is very little room for overclocking.

Yeah, but you can get a lot more out of your card if you do it your self and move it up by 5 and test it. I used detect optimal and put me at 485/1.15 than i did it myself and got it to 500/1.24 stable. It my take more time but if you want the most out of your card i would do it myself.

Hello. I was thinking about getting the card but want to get one that is the most overclockable and yours seems to be more overclocked than even the not yet available KO Superclocked model (at 490mhz core). What setup/cooling solution do you have with the card and what card model did you purchase? 500mhz seems unreal on the 7800gs!

After you run the coolbits registry mod, right click desktop>nvidia disply>your monitor. then there is a tab on the left called "clock frequencies" this is where you will overlclock.

Then use this giude to help you better OC the card.

I volt modded my EVGA 7800 GS and got it to 673/1600 stable. You have to ground VID4 for the core overclock, thatll put it up at 1.50 GHz. you dont have to do anything else for the core, just put a small wire from VID 4 to ground heres a link http://forum.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=200420 follow the first picture there. As for the memory overclock, i did a pencil mod from vr-zone, but make sure that your core is G71 not G70 before you do either

I run @ 476:1.400 65degre when playing hard,stock at 430:1.300

I run on AGP 4X because my P4P800SE left me and I run my spare 845PSBT (that suck's) I use EVGA aplication, the fan speed is set at 100%, I will try at 480-490 on the core to see if it can take more, I enjoy lifetime warranty!!!
