I have put together my new rig which consists of

FX 6300 3.5
Cool Master Hyper 212 Evo
Asus m5a97 r2.0
8Gb LP Vengance 2x4

ive used the TurboV utility tool that comes with Asus and managed to go beyond an overclock of 4.0 with my cpu hitting 37% and mobo hitting 28%
When you click on the the extreme overclock it gets it to 4.2 but just like i would when it hits 4.0 but it doesn't stick?,

How do i get it too keep at 4.0?..

New to overclocking..

Don't use the TubroV utility and do it manually through the BIOS.

Turn off all turbo, SS, and anything that boosts your CPU. Tune everything to stock. Then bump the multiplier by 1 and reboot, do this untill you reach 4.0 . Then run 30 mins of Prime95. If it doesnt crash then your stable... Run for a further 8 hours. If you want more just repeat the process up to your desired speed. Then if you cant boot thhen add 0.005 volts and repeat. Be carefull when adding volts that you dont go above 64*C
