Hi guys & gals,

First of all im a noob so go easy on me and try to give idiot guides if helping please

.

Can anybody shed some light on a problem i am encountering whilst doing a moderate overclock.

All my rig details are in my settings so all the info needed can be found there.

First of all i had some great advice from Robilar so thanks to him for helping me with my first ever overclock, respect and reps++.

Now to my problem. I did a small overclock as i have never attempted one at all and i was basically cacking myself

I changed the FSB to 1280 with a multiplier of 9 (stock). I went into unlinked mode so i did not have to mess with memory . I turned up the Vcore one incriment to 1.3125 or 1.3175 (i cant remember which one without going back into bios). All was running stable, Orthos ran for over 3 hours non stop, CPU temps are very stable 29 oC unloaded going up to about 48 oC when being stress tested. This gave an overclock of 2880 and pushed my 3d mark 06 to nearly 11,000.

However my system is running quite cool and i do not see any reason why i cannot get 3gig with this set up and this is where i am starting to have problems.

I have tried turning up the multiplier to 1335 and i can get into windows and start Orthos but after about 3 minutes i get a BSOD. I then changed the Vcore to 1.32500 and tried again but exactly the same happened. For the time being i am back onto my very stable 2880 oc but i am a bit perplexed as to why i cannot get to the 3gig barrier.

Can any of you experts out there help me out.

I know this will sound like a long and arduous task but push up your FSB by about 8 each time and run orthos, and see, also are you on the latest BIOS? have you set your RAM timings and voltages to stock? and have you upped your NB voltage? try 1.4v this may fix the stability, I know personally that on my P5N32e-Sli I had to push up the NB voltage to stabalize my OC...

Thanks guys for the quick responses.

Im a Bit scared of touching the NB voltages as i am deliberatley trying to avoid touching as many voltage settings as possible (yes i am a wuss). Besides from what i have already read these babies run very hot, last thing i want is a fried NB.

What damage can be incurred by increasing this, what signs should i be looking for as an indication of possible danger. I have read the intel guide by Robilar and that is what gave me the info and confidence for my first OC ( along with a couple of Pm's from Robilar himself

). Is there anything else i should be looking at?

Just as an add on i tried upping the FSB by 10 from 1280 to 1290 (fsb 322.5 x muliplier of 9) and i got an error on Orthos, so ithink i may be at my limit without more in depth tweaking. With this in mind what should i be looking at to aim for 3gig.
