P6t wont recognize my ram.

I have 3x2g sticks installed but bios only recognizes 4gig total and so does windows 7. However cpuz is reading all 6 gigs. Im not sure if the computer is really using 6 or 4... If anyone has some insight please let me know.

BTW I did check each stick individually and they all work when installed alone. And they are all in the slots recomended by the motherboard manual.

Right click my computer and click properties. That will tell you the amount of ram available for use by windows. Make sure its 64 bit and some motherboards have a setting to enable above 4GB I think.
yeah i did that, it says only 4gigs but when cpu-z will recognize all 6gigs
the board is a new asus p6t for the i7 its supposed to handle up to 12gigs
I think there may be a setting that limits the ram able to be used up in windows for compatibility purposes. Dig through the BIOS to see if there is anything relating to RAM.
just checked nothing like that, not that i can find.
Try clearing the bios. If that doesnt work, try testing the modules and see if any are bad. Not you can not run a single stick of memory in the first dimm (closest to the CPU).
Isn't there an issue with the V2's and more than 4 gigs of ram? I honestly can remember seeing at least 3 threads JUST like this over the past 6-9 months. Maybe try searching for an old thread to see what the other V2 users have done.
This P6T board has a problem of not detecting all 6GB of ram sometimes, even in the BIOS. My bro has the P6T vanilla and it happens mostly at cold boot. It can be caused by too much tension in the heatsink, which may misalign some pins from proper contact with the contact pad on the CPU. It could be insufficient QPI or DRAM voltage (stay at 1.65v and below for DRAM voltage).
I'd flash to the latest BIOS. It doesn't seem to be some other problem since it is all seen in CPU-Z
i am not to sure but if you are running a 32bit OS i think it only reads 4 gigs of memory

It is not an OS issue in this case because the BIOS recognizes only 4GB not 6GB.

yeah, Im runnin 64 windows 7 anyway. Ive heard others say that about the tension on the cooler I think that might be my next step.
but wait if the cooler was the problem then why is cpu-z reading the 6gigs?
yeah i need to read more carefully lol, sorry bout that
no worrys i did it to myself
is there any software i can run to find out if im actually using all 3 sticks like cpu-z says?

The latest bios update seems to have improved memory capability, see if flashing this bios will help.
