I wanted to use a moderated approach to my folding as long as the moderated approach allowed me to stay in the top 50 of our team stats. Well I have been pushed back to #49 with this moderated approach so I have changed my standard rules of operation and I will try and run as much as I can (main players will be the 3 i7's running -bigadv and each running a gpu2 gpu (just no money to move into the gpu3 club). Running flat out is the way I like things and I am proud to say the amount of participation from other members are making it so the a"little bit here and a little bit there" approach were not doing it for me anymore. We sure have a lot of dedicated folders, I tip my hat and say "good job".

I have a -smp job running on the 3rd rig (the WU is a 7148) at 38% so that will have to wait a few hours but isn't it just so typical that with one rig that got put back in -bigadv duty pulled a 2684 (I just know they were keeping this one for me) but the second pulled a 2686.

About power consumption, I find it is not so noticable until I pass the 2.5 million per month level. I don't want to get pushed out of the "top 50" so this change just had to happen. Now the deal is, how to deal with the fan noise. This is just a minor issue compared to what other "not so well" people face, and I am glad to do it.

GPU3 WUs would cut into your -bigadv PPD anyway; GPU2 is still supported, so why not use it?

I so much do not want to get pushed below number 50 but until 2 bigadv's drop I must leave 1 i7 rig running -smp and my gpu work for immediate regularly timed points. After the two finish and drop it is clear sailing. Perhaps 1 more gpu keeps me in the top 50. I know it really does not matter where you sit in points but it makes folding a bit more fun.I guess I cut this one a bit close but it is new to me how many people are marching up page one.

I simply cannot keep enough rigs running due too ambient temps going high. It looks like my next 350.00 is going towards a window unit. I found one with a 9.7 efficiency rating and designed for a 17X20 room (7000BTU) it would be considered large if I was not running 3 i7's and 5 gpu's.I know there are cheaper units out there but just like with my computer gear I don't buy junk when it comes to AC units either.

I am pretty much off-line (except for a bit of gpu folding). I tried running these 3 i7's (2 doing bigadv and one -smp and my room ambient easily hit 95F) cpu's all stayed under 70. This amount of folding in a closed room with no AC is brutal. I have said I realise the discomfort that the people we are trying to help are going through and my heart goes out to them and I do feel bad that I can't do as much as I would like. I bought and assembled these these systems to fold on and now temps prevent me from doing so.Last year I had them out in my AZ room but when the rains blew in sideways, well I think that contributed to my 2 failed motherboards,2 failed cpu's and a failed Corsair 850, this stuff is just not designed for that extreme of an environment. All but one cpu got replaced under RMA as it was not conclusive that the operational environment was the cause of all my parts failures, for now on my rigs stay inside. How would you like to see you 3 i7 rigs sitting in the middle of a sideways driven rain storm, I about had a heart attack. So it is wait a little bit for me and get the window unit, then we can get these 3 i7's back online and folding.$350.00 is 3 months of "discretionary spending" for me.

OFF Topic: Found a rootkit virus on my flash drive when a PowerPoint exercise would not complete correctly, pretty wierd things have been going on lately.
