Painting ODD silver? Stealthing?

I have a black Samsung burner, and I want to color match it to my incoming silver Silvertsone TJ07. What would be the best way of doing it?
Thanks for any help

I know some brands also sell front panels in differnet colors, not sure if it exsits for that one though.

If not, spraying it with a silver colored paint could be nice if you do it properly. But it's easy to mess it up.

Also, Lian Li sells front panels for their cases, but don't knwo if they'll fit yours though. Depends on whether or not your able to fasten it in front of the drive on the case, but doesn't seem like it's that easy taking the side panels of that case since it seems to be in one piece?

If not, modding the drive somewhat to fit back the front panels there could also work.

Just stealth it...

Remove a cover plate's sides.
Glue/Tape on the case cover plates to the ODD door.
Use some glue and a nut to add a bump to the plate over the Eject button.
Push on the cover plate to open the drive.

I just watched a quick video of someone who did that. Is there a guide on doing that?

*EDIT* I am searching myself, but you may know of something I don't

I have a guide for doing it. I can't link you because I am on my iPhone, so just search DVD drive stealth or something similar, I'll link it when I get home if you can't find it.

Edit: http://www.overclock.net/case-mods-g...guide-56k.html here it is.

Thanks for the link Bebster.
I just checked it out

I will be deciding on what to do (paint or stealth) when the case arrives and I can visually estimate what would be better.

If I painted it, what would be the best way of doing it? I tried to find some Krylon Fusion, but was unable to find the color I need. I might have to get some primer and a different brand of paint.
Anyone have any experience with doing this with a silver TJ07?

The modder in me says that all you need to do is get some plastic primer (adhesion promoter), some regular grey primer and whatever color you choose.

1) Sand down the bezel (with it removed from the drive of course)
2) Apply adhesion promoter
3) Apply Primer
4) paint
5) rebuild

An easier way to get the same effect is this.

If you can match the make/model CD burner you have to any of these, just order the replacement stick-on bezels that stick right over top of the black.

Or just wait until Performance-PCs has your drive back in stock in silver and buy that.

I have painted numerous drives, many red and black from what were old beige ones. What I do:

Sand the bezel and the plate down with 400grit wet n dry
Give it a couple of coats of primer, you know the drill
Leave overnight then sand gently with 800grit
Spray numerous coats of your spray, give it 20mins between each coat
Apply clear coat!

That first link does not work.
Do I really need 2 different primers? I would figure the plastic adhesion primer would be enough.
I already have the drive, so I won't be buying another one just to match colors

Thanks to you and swiftes
