Partitioning OS drive

Is it possible to use something like gParted to edit the size of my operating system's drive without having to do a fresh restart?

I'd like to setup my laptop with:
30GB OS
120GB Data

Is it possible, will gParted wipe the new partition clean?

i dont think you can do it on the partition that the OS is on. i wouldnt do it because i wouldnt risk loosing data. back up your data and try it, if it doesnt work at least you have your files.

good luck

Do a defrag with Win7 defragger before you do this, for best results.

Actually, SmartDefrag will also consolidate the free space better than the OS will. Run a deep optimize, then use 7 to move the partition boundaries..
