Patriot SSD Question

My Raptor is on its last legs so I've decided to go SSD for my next boot drive. Would a Patriot Warp 32GB do the job?

Also, a few quick questions, do these really degrade over time? And if so is there a way to stop that from happening?

All flash memory will degrade over time, unfortunately nothing you can really do. However, most generation 2 SSD's are rated at 20 or more years for normal usage. You might use the drive for what 2 years max before upgrading? SSD's are going to have huge storage increases at a lower price in the next few years. I went with a 160gb SSD because overall everything runs soooo much faster when installed right on the SSD instead of having to access it from an HDD. It's up to you what you want to do but that 32gb will fill up awfully fast.

I can give you something to think about though. If you game alot and want to put the games you play most on the SSD, load times are much faster, and any application installed on the OS will run much faster but you won't be able to fit many on the 32gb drive. If I were you i'd spend some extra cash and get a bigger drive such as the 80gb X25-m

32GB is a shade over how much I need for OS so it should cover it. I could always buy another Raptor for $40

I was just saying you won't get the performance increase in eveything if you are opening applications installed onto another drive.

Yeah if I had $400 to burn I would buy an Intel drive but I'm on a tight budget.

Those use the micron controller so it stutters. The cheapest good ssd is the ocz vertex. Check that one out
Vertex would be your best bet or just save up some more.
