"The Bottom Line

When the PC Power & Cooling Turbo-Cool 1KW-SR was launched it may indeed have been the "biggest, baddest power supply - period," but while the king was looking down the jester stole his thorny crown. This isn't to say the unit performs badly as the Turbo-Cool does perform well, but what it does mean is that the 1KW-SR fails to meet the expectations instilled by PC Power & Cooling's marketing, its own labeling, and the performance of other units currently on the market.

These relative failures make it tough for HardOCP to respect or even believe PC Power & Cooling's marketing claims. A portion of this letdown is mitigated if a user buys direct from PC Power & Cooling. While you still get the same product you will experience the best selling point of a PC Power & Cooling PSU; their outstanding North American based customer service including being able to have your power supply custom tailored to your exact cabling needs.

Simply put, there are much less expensive power supplies at and above the 1Kilowatt rating that show to be quality units. Save yourself an easy $150 and spend your hard earned money on a PSU other than the PC Power & Cooling Turbo-Cool 1KW-SR as it does not live up to its self-proclaimed marketing hype and is overpriced in today's PSU market."

I still have yet to see a PSU that has even close to the ripple control that PC P&C does. I would still have my 1kW PC P&C if it weren't for its noise production being too obnoxious for a gaming PC that is also used quite a lot for playing multimedia.

Great! I almost bought this Monster Priced PSU...I opted for the Enermax 1000w instead.

All the reviews I saw on the Galaxy were rave reviews. [Borat Voice]That one(PPC&C) not so much...[/Borat Voice]

Even I have a budget. I think.

A better review does not a better PSU mean. Looks, noise, and price are often included in PSU reviews.

If you read through the various tests, both the Silverstone Olympia and Thermaltake 1200W both have comparable ripple performance to the PC & Power unit and beat it in a number of other areas (sound issues notwithstanding).

?

Of the 6 1000W+ power supplies reviewed by HardOCP, it came in dead last. I don't understand your point.

And, its almost $200 USD more than units that beat it.
